Renew your old iPhone with Flipswap
Yesterday, we asked iPhone owners who intend to upgrade just what they'll do with their 1st generation iPhones. Thousands of you answered, with Ebay drawing the top score.Of course, Ebay will be flooded with iPhones soon, so consider alternatives like Flipswap. They offer cash for iPhones (and other model phones) and even pay for shipping. Once they've gotten your phone, they put it back in use.
If you're the environmentally consicous type, you'll appreciate this. Phones that cannot be put back into use are disposed of, piece by piece, in "...the greenest methods available today." Also, in lieu of cash, you can trade in your dead phone for a tree as part of their reLeaf Program. Flipswaps estimates they'll plant up to 25,000 trees this year (they take old iPods, too!).
It's free, easy and definitely worth the consideration.

Isn't this just "making big cash" with a few leaves around it? If you sell your iphone to them, the guy at at the mobuzz podcast said you get about 170 dollars.....if i remember correctly.... so ..... they sell it for ... what can you get for one? 300-400 dollars?
I mean even if the phone gets re-used, if you sell it at ebay it will also be used again and not thrown away?

Or sell one to me for $200 (but don't look at eBay first)

There should really have been an option to keep your current iPhone and not buy the 3G in the poll.

As a test, I checked the value of my 8GB iPhone and it was listed as $166. I wonder how long that value will last after July 11th...

Yes, the value of the first iPhone will tank after July 11 in US. But don't forget the value of unlocked iPhone overseas. (That is, until iPhone Dev Team release the new unlock for iPhone 3G)

For those planning to buy (or sell) an iPhone on eBay, be advised that eBay is rapidly turning into a den of thieves—that is to say, is flooded with dishonest sellers of various flavors. The result is that buyers are becoming reluctant to buy on eBay, and honest sellers are having a harder time distinguishing their offerings from the endless listings by high-volume con artists. If you live in an urban area, Craigslist is a much more reliable way to go.
