Wallpaper Clocks

I was on the hunt today for a clock application and ran across an interesting implementation in Wallpaper Clock. Basically it's a small application that dynamically redraws your Desktop every minute, to keep your time and date, well, up-to-date. The application itself is free, but requires particular artwork files in a variety of designs. Some of these clock files are available in a free, low-quality version, while others are only available to registered users (along with the free ones in higher-quality versions). It is also possible to create your own Wallpaper Clocks with your own images.
Wallpaper Clocks is a free download however there is a registration fee for subscription based access to the maker's website with artwork unavailable in the free version. Subscriptions are $8.99 for 3 months, $12.99 for 6 months, $19.99 for one year, and $29.99 for lifetime access.

Another plug for software. How much do you guys make for each of these advertisements? You could do this in 2 minutes in Quartz Composer.

Nothing. We post on things we think are interesting and will be interesting to our readers. Sorry this doesn't tickle your fancy, but as you can see from the other commenters some folks like this kind of thing.

There is also Desktoptopia (www.desktoptopia.com), which can refresh your desktop wallpaper at any given rate with cool wallpapers submitted by their authors. And it's free.
But it doesn't say the time :)

I've been a Vladstudio subscriber for a couple years now and I couldn't be happier. His style is just awesome! I absolutely love his Christmas wallpapers.
I encourage anyone who likes his work to buy a subscription to the site for high quality wallpapers. Totally worth it.

Ok so whats the difference of just downloading konfabulator, placing a clock widget over top of the center of your desktop?
for free even.

What fun is that?
Why not just put up whatever wallpaper you want and then look at the clock in the top right corner and not installing anything at all?

wow.. quite stylish.
@djhinn : the clocks on the wallpapers are quite unique in their look and seem part of the image.

I subscribed to vladstudio last Christmas and absolutely love his work. To me the cost isn't about the software, but about the artwork - and I have no problem paying for artwork I like. Highly recommended!

And even if you're a cheapskate, they still have nice ones you don't have to be a subscriber for. But the really nice stuff is in the subscription area. My wife and I use it, although I only use it occasionally.

Are you serious? Just buy Stattoo from Panic. Then you can get the time (and weather, and date, and iTunes info, and computer info, etc) anywhere you want on your screen, with ANY desktop.

Since it came out, it's the very first piece of software I install on my machines. Irreplaceable. =)

Reminds me of a super geeky project I started a while back to make a live desktop using PHP, javascript, HTML, CSS, and WebDesktop. Details here: http://twistedtechnolog.deviantart.com/art/Twist-s-Desktop-2-17-2007-48974868
