iPhone 101: A user guide to take with you
If you're going to be a new iPhone 3G owner this week, you might want to make a note of this site to help you get acquainted with your new mobile device.
Apple has a guide to the iPhone available at http://help.apple.com/iphone/guide that you can view directly in MobileSafari, so you'll always have it when you need it.
The guide has help for Phone, Mail, Safari, iPod, Applications, Settings, the Wi-Fi Music Store, and some Troubleshooting tips.
I even learned something new: you can scroll to the top of web pages by double-tapping the title bar. Nice!
Thanks, Rubinnz!
Update: Major poopie! Apple has taken down the site for some inexplicable reason. I'll try and find out where it's moved to (or a mirror) and get back to you.
Update 2: It's back, and its contents are updated for the new iPhone software. The new guide includes tips for enterprise users, and for using the App Store. It seems to be oddly not fitting in MobileSafari's display window very well, but hopefully that will get sorted out soon.

Yes, I would say that...
But, really, the most embarassing thing is that I found it out by the hands of my 5'year old son, at his first time with my i...
"Look dad, it's cool, it returns fast..."
Getting older is hard, sometimes. :P

Woops, I'm obviously 'having' trouble with my grammar.

Grrr...I submitted that hint to Pogue for his iPhone book, but it didn't get added. Too bad -- that's the handiest feature imaginable for long web pages. Seems like all lists will get that with iPhone 2.0, which is very nice.
I think, given all the upgrades to the OS, that I am going to hold off on iPhone 3G, actually...I just wonder if the single upgrade -- 3G -- is really worth it (without a better turn-by-turn navigation system, the GPS isn't really worth much to me). Plus, the $20/month is pretty tasty...
We'll see. I've rarely been able to resist the pull of new hardware. I should probably just buckle.

As well as tapping on the status bar to scroll back up in webpages, in 2.0 you can tap at the top of any table view (eg mail list or contact list) to scroll to the top (unless the developer explicitly disables it).

I've downloaded 2.0 from "the bay" and the bookmark is automatically added for you!

It's a single tap of the title bar, not a double.
At least on my phone/version, that is.

Confirming a single tap on my phone, too.

What I want is a way to jump to the bottom of a page. I read a lot of forums.

Nice... the guide doesn't work in Firefox 3 (at least not for me).

Actually, if they simply watched the 'iPhone Demo' video at Apple's site, they'd already know about the feature and that it works in other apps. But, who reads the @(%&$ manual! 8-) LOL!
"Out of the mouths of babes...!" :-0

Wasn't this in some release video? Cos I remember seeing something like that and then trying it on my iPod touch.

Looks like Apple has removed the page, getting a 404: The requested URL /iphone/guide/ was not found on this server.
