App Store now officially available
The App Store has been accessible for awhile now, but it is now official. Fire up your copy of iTunes and you'll be greeted with a new addition to the left hand navigation: App Store. As with the other sections of the iTunes Store you'll find a number of sections: New Apps, Top Apps, Top Free Apps, and more. The iPhone 2.0 firmware hasn't been released as of yet, but browsing the App Store should keep your mind off that for a little while.
What is the first app you're going to download?
Thanks to everyone who sent this in.

@ John
software 2.0 isn't out yet but will be released any moment now, just sit tight, check for software update every now and then, you should be fine.
Software 2.0 negates the need for the January update and you will need to pay for it regardless so relax, it'll be fixed soon.
Where is the RSA Software Token on the App Store? Having the VPN stuff is great but if you have to carry the hardware token around with you, that just stinks!!!
July 11 2008 at 5:05 AM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down Replyi live in canada and i downloaded two apps.
in my iPod touch settings it doesn't have an applications tap and i cannot get it to load!
so i restored my iPod and i lost my January Software Update
can someone please help me out.
first download: ePocrates!
One of the best programs for medical professionals on the Palm OS during the peak of the Palm/Sony Clie years, I've been without it ever since I let go of my Palm a few years ago. Now I've been waiting for months for ePocrates for iPhone ever since the first detailed SDK announcement!
I have Remote, Facebook, MySpace Mobile and AIM ready to install and try out.

It doesn't work very well, but you can watch the different apps on your iPod while waiting for the 2.0 version to come.
July 10 2008 at 6:55 PM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyI was able to download the 2.0 software, upgrade my old iPhone, and snagged 13 apps. "MLB At Bat" was the first one, and the only one that I paid for ($4.99).

July 10 2008 at 6:41 PM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplySomething I've noticed about the App store already--if you purchase an App off the iPhone, and then go sync with iTunes, you'll get a message asking if you want to copy or delete the app.
