MobileMe now really, truly up? No.
ileMe has been a rockier road than a Baskin-Robbins convention in the same hotel as a Weight Watchers conference. With .Mac services (including webmail, near and dear to my travelin' heart) down most of the day, all we could do was commiserate with the scores of inbound tip emails and eagerly hit the "refresh" button until the circumstances changed.Looks like we made it, though -- as of 7 pm ET it seems that most Me.com services are up and running from the web side (sync status TBD). Enjoy the cloudy goodness, if you will.... ulp, now it's down again. Y'know, if the idea behind your new service offering is "Exchange for the rest of us," perhaps the first order of business ought to be ensuring some sort of baseline SLA, or an uptime expectation? The last thing Apple needs is the reliability reputation of some other popular communications service...
Update: Per Apple's support status page for .Mac, all the back-end services should be running as of 2 am ET, but the web UI is still not available and there is no ETA. If you're depending on .Mac webmail from the road, may I suggest a POP download into another (free) email service.

My fingers are mad too...
When you can't get to "www.me.com" (it just redirects to "www.apple.com/mobileme"), try the following link instead:
https://auth.apple.com/authenticate
(don't forget the "s" in "https://")
This is consistently getting me to the login page, although I'm still having problems logging in (it failed to log me in even when I got there from "www.me.com", so my problem isn't because of the address I'm now using).

When it was up, I noticed that there was no option to send a share invite for files. That could possibly be one of the problems, but no a major one.

July 10 2008 at 11:58 PM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyWell, this is strange.
I couldn't login with "username", "username@mac.com", or "username@me.com".
I decided to use the "Forgot password?" link to change my password.
I tried this with "username@mac.com", answered the security questions, and it let me reset my password. It sent a confirmation email to one of my email accounts. I still couldn't login as "username@mac.com" (nor the other variations).
So, I tried resetting my password for "username". Answered the security questions again (this time the question was different), and it let me reset my password. This time, it sent a confirmation email to a *different* personal email account of mine.
I again tried logging in (all 3 username variations) - still doesn't work.
So, I tried resetting the password for the third form ("username@me.com"). It let me reset it, and sent the confirmation email to the same email account that it had for "username@mac.com").
Again, I can't login.
It seems I'm in the system multiple times even before MobileMe ("username" and "username@mac.com"). This possibly comes from the fact that a while back (couple years ago), I had signed up for a 'trial' of ".Mac". I didn't end up purchasing it (so it lapsed). In the meantime, I got an iPhone, and became an iPhone developer. The dev program required a "username@mac.com" login (even though it wasn't associated with a paid ".Mac" account). I created that. Later, I went back to my 'expired trial' ".Mac" account and paid the $99 to re-open it.
So, I'm not surprised that this could be causing confusion for their system.
For other people having problems logging in at "www.me.com": did you have a trial that "lapsed", then you later re-enabled (paid for) a ".Mac" account? Or, any other 'odd' signup scenario like I've described?
I have a feeling that this will be tough to explain to Apple support. Especially after today (they'll probably still be flooded with calls from today's problems, plus any 'new signup' issues once MobileMe goes live).

I wonder how many new trial members signed up. And what additional load the servers will face... hopefully they upgraded, cuz as ali pointed out... while it was up a couple of minutes ago, it was way slow!
Oh and BTW, .Mac is down too... so can't sync or use Backup 3.1.2 etc..
Justin Long (looking disheveled): "Hello, I'm a Mac..."
John Hodgson (looking smug): "...and I'm a PC--"
Amy Winehouse (looking strung out) "--- and I'm MobileMe---" (falls to floor)
it was soooooo slow while it was up... only pne email i flagged displayed a change... cal didnt wk, neither did idisk or prefs... contacts did work but slow as hell and a contact i added was not pushed however all my other contacts were there... i gues we have to wait and see...
keep playing apple!
You know, I bet from the MobileMe team's POV, it's gotta be like opening a window on a jet in flight every time they try to relaunch this thing.

It just went down. I'm coming back only after I hear it's up. My time is money just like Apple's. The part that sucks is that I am PAYING for it.
Sigh
