Found Footage: Dev Team Posts Video

If you've been thinking the iPhone Dev Team (the team behind the jailbreaking applications) would die out after firmware 2.0, then think again. That's because the dev team has just published a video showing the jailbreaking process for a 2.0 iPhone.

Update: We are currently uploading the video, in the mean time you can view the video on the iPhone Dev's website.

Sorry about the video everyone. The Viddler team is working hard on getting it back up and running. If you have any questions or concerns in the meantime, please feel free to contact me cdevroe at viddler.com

Thanks!

Such bitching and whining about a freeware, made-in-their-own-time piece of software. They don't own ANY of you ANYTHING.

Just for the moaning alone I'd delay the release by two of three weeks.

Bwahahaha....

"The video is just to show you what it may be like. "

*may* be like? So, it's an elaborate video way of saying "Hey, if this were possible, this is what it MAY look like"

....including "I Haz FAIL".

Yeah, certainly!

Very amusing. A video that shows:

- a pretty new UI interface.
- attempting to Pwn 1.1.4 firmware
- FAILING to do so.
- *showing* (but not doing) a roll-over of iPod Touch with 2.0 firmware implied (but not demonstrated)

This NEVER shows, or even remotely implies a Pwnage of iPhone 2.0 (firmware, running on original iPhones), or iPhone 3G getting Pwned.

Not only is this an attempt at misdirection, but it's a terrible attempt because it's so transparently failing at it (to only what would be the most gullible idjits, of which there seem to be quite a few in this thread).

So, if the point was demonstrate that the iPhone Dev team has (once again) achieved nothing, and has nothing to show, then this has been a success... what was the point of this?

Has anyone tried this with a 1st G 2.0 iPhone? I just updated (with no problems), but now I want my old programs back too.

'I Haz Fail' ? Does it mean it doesn't do its job at the moment?

On another note, I read of people downloading the 2.0 firmware for iPod Touch, but it seems like there are 2 versions, iPod1_1_2.0_5A345 and iPod1_1_2.0_5A347.

Calm down. The video is just to keep you interested. If you read the post it says the video is just to show you what it may be like. They state...

UPDATE: Please don’t pay close attention to the wording in the popups of PwnageTool as this is mainly placeholder text while we finalize everything for release. PwnageTool works with 2.0 upgraded 1st gen iPhones.

Thanks Brian for pointing that out - wish TUAW had done so in this post, would have saved A LOT of confusion for everyone...

Sort it out TUAW - this was a seriously bum post.

Do theis mean that the CURRENT Pwnage version works with upgraded 1st generation phones or that the NEW Pwnage (to be released) version works on the upgraded 1st generation phone?

I dont see what all the hype is for this video. If you really watch it, they dont even use it to jailbreak 2.0, instead they just jailbreak 1.1.4 two times. Also it doesnt show any screen shots of a jailbroken 2.0 so who knows if it works?
