iPhone activation working
We've gotten a number of happy iPhone users telling us that activations are working once more. I've been encountering a number of iTunes errors myself while trying to update my iPhone to the 2.0 firmware, though I just tried once more and it worked.Your mileage may vary, but it looks like things are slowly getting up to full speed once more.

Good news. Do TUAW think this could mean the new firmware may be released sometime soon for iPod touch users...?

It already has been, although it's proving very difficult to get with all the current issues.

How did you get the 2.0 firmware? I'm on 1.1.4 and iTunes says that I'm up-to-date. Posts have said that the 3547 version is for dev units only.

Do you have iTunes 7.7?

Rob, if the update is not coming up for you try going to this website:
http://www.apple.com/ipodtouch/appstore/
click on the link to "Buy the Software Update". This should link direct you to the iTunes to purchase the update.

Well, let's hope Apple got smart and temporarily pulled it to reduce the load on their servers. Better the touch owners wait a day or so than that everyone finds their machines disabled.

Same for me, iTunes tells me I am up to date at 1.1.4 and will not let me download the 2.0

updated my 1st gen phone to iphone 2.0 around 11 am EST and all is working well. Pretty awesome upgrade. The app store is no doubt the killer app. I was listening to Pandora over edge without a hiccup.

So far so good for me. It's just restoring the music and videos now. Looks like I have full bars and I'm connected to wifi :)

It looks like they may have switched off the facility to upgrade temporarily, iTunes is currently saying my phone is up to date with 1.1.4. One of my colleagues has upgraded (with some difficulty and trepidation) this morning so the firmware is definitely available to all and not just development units.

Earlier I got an upgrade to 2.0 note that quickly changed to the "software is up to date" message. I wonder if Apple decided to punish us early buyers again by cutting us off in favor of the iPod Touch upgrade buyers.

Seeing as the iPod Touch buyers have been totally forgotten about by the upgrades thus far, I'm guessing that's not the case. I for one, am still waiting. Along with many other angry iPod Touch owners...

My phone magically activated itself (OTA?) a few hours ago, but I finally got it to register on iTunes and it's now happily syncing my media!
