Mobile Me appears to be up and running
I realize I post this at great personal peril, but Mobile Me appears to be working. Apple has updated the Mobile Me support page with information specific to Mobile Me, and has removed the notice about the update taking longer than usual.
After a rough first 24 hours, Mobile Me services appear to be mostly operational, although for me, Mail is still a little shaky, and everything is still pretty slow.
Even so, Internet Explorer 7 users appear to be left in the lurch: Apple displays a notice for those users saying IE7 is "not fully supported." Apple mentions on its website that Mobile Me can sync IE7 bookmarks, and features the IE7 logo fairly prominently.
Your mileage, as has been the case for the last 48 hours, may vary. It will be interesting to find out in the coming days what precisely happened, and what Apple will do to prevent it from happening in the future.
Thanks to everyone who sent this in!

I'm confused now. You CAN use IE7 so you can sync your bookmarks, but you can't do that with Firefox 3? You can use Firefox 3 to use MobileMe but you can't use IE7? When the heck did this happen?

.Mac's legacy as a half-hearted side project lives on.

OK and where the heck is the MobileMe update for OS X that's supposed to change all .Mac references to MobileMe ??!!
Because of that, i still consider it to be down !
Shame on you Apple !

I got it for my iMac, but not the PowerBook nor MacBook in the house. Nonetheless, I think all will be fine if you still sync with the .Mac prefpane...

Unfortunately, the web client is unusable for me at this time. Certain features (mail and iDisk) work, but neither the calendar nor the contacts tools are working in the web client. They just load partially and never complete loading even after 10-15 minutes. Periodically, I'm getting error pages.
Likewise, I have been unable to get the MobileMe update to install on either of my Macs running 10.5.4. It doesn't appear in Software Updates, even after going into the .Mac system preferences and viewing account details as suggested by others.
Seems the MobileMe launch has been botched pretty heavily.

It's too bad, really -- the guy on the WWDC 08 seemed so nice....Didn't he? Not so much a shark as the guy who is the iPhone 2.0 guy...Wouldn't want to meet him hungry!
Yikes!

I have been testing the push on MobileMe for the past hour. Stuff pushes pretty quickly between the web site & my (old) iphone....But not so great to my desktop iCal.....Anyone hazzard a guess why?? Some push I have given up on--a lag of about 20 min to desktop iCal.....

I'm trying to figure out what the difference is between MobileMe Push and .Mac Sync. It doesn't seem to be instantaneous as it appeared on the demo. In fact, I really don't see any difference at all except the logo, and web client.

I have watched all the comments and posts for the last 24 hours re: MobileMe. I have given Apple the benefit of the doubt. I have been patient because life isn't perfect. But now I am annoyed. They managed to take my $105 from yesterday and that is the only success I have had with MobileMe. I have had no trouble logging in today -- online that is. I figured all was resolved. However, the Push part of this is all moot to me because MobileMe ISN'T SYNCING ICAL, MAIL, etc. Can anyone else confirm they are having the same issue. I have 10.4.11. I was given no software update. My sys prefs recognizes my account as active, idisk works but cal, mail etc. doesn't! Anyone else having this issue? Any resolution available. The support page says MobileMe is working!

I am able to login, but I would have to say it is definitely not working. The parts that were working are doing so very very very slow.

Here's my experience (in Edinburgh, Scotland). MMe is up and running. Using FF3 I can do pretty much everything I need, however it's not remembering my settings. E.g. Calendar - I set the timezone to London, the week view to start on a Monday not a Sunday, to show 14 hours per day etc.. None of this is retained and I need to do it all again next time I log in. Fingers crossed it's just another teething problem.

Still no software update either! Is this still available for download as a standalone?
