Apple prepping iPhone 2.1 software
The folks at The Boy Genius Report spent some time poking around server logs and found references to iPhone OS 2.0.1. It seems that build 5B101 is the 2.0.1 software for first-generation iPhones, while 5B103 is for 3G iPhones. No word on what's included, of course, or when this might hit iTunes. According to AppleInsider, some people are having trouble with the camera and the accelerometer since the update. Have any of you 1st generation iPhone owners had software trouble since the update? Here's hoping this update will solve the problem.

Doesn't anybody find it completely ridiculous that Apple would allow a firmware this buggy to be released. Do they not test this shit before it comes out, five minutes on my phone and you can instantly tell 2.0 is shitty. There is nothing more annoying that a laggy keyboard. How have they still not fixed the alarm not going off if you have a notification!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm really disappointed with the quality of the software when apple prides themselves in more stable software, when actually the iPhone has one of the mot unstable O/S I have ever used!!!!

My keyboard also lags in SMS. It does get irritating. All told though I do enjoy the new features in 2.0. The image capture function in mail and safari is great.

July 21 2008 at 4:45 AM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyMy battery life sucks since upgrading and my iPhone 2G runs extremely hot, but that may be from the app not actually quitting when you go to the home screen, which someone else posted about a few days ago. Someone at an ATT store told me it was the app store which was killing the battery, but I have not had that confirmed by anyone else. It also seems to be taking 3-4 times as long to charge the battery. It's been charging for 4 hours now and is only 3/4 charged.

July 20 2008 at 6:20 PM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyAnyone having trouble with their iTunes music library? It seems the songs I have downloaded will not play audibly on my (old) iPhone with 2.0. I have tried to restore without backing up--no luck. All my ringtones & music - silent....with or without earbuds.
I have all the other problems with slow accelerometer, typing and touch response....It feels like the little engine that could trying to get up the hill sometimes.
SUCH a bummer.
Very gitchy. I hope the update fixes all these issues.

this is the link for the fix to the music problem!
original iphone user -- having significant issues with 2.0, most of which have been mentioned already:
-- slow camera load, slow shutter
-- keyboard lag
-- general system lag and slowness
-- app crashes
-- os crashes, resets
sure hoping 2.0.1 cures my iphone's ills
anyone else notice the volume bug?? anytime i go into settings the volume bar shows its at half volume, but when i hit the buttons on the side it says its at max, but the volume is still really low
