iPhone 2.0.1 firmware out for iPhone and iPod touch

Apple has released the 2.0.1 firmware update for the iPhone and iPod touch, and as you can see above, it brings the much-awaited "Bug fixes" feature to bear. We first heard about bug fixes way back at WWDC '07, and since then there's been much speculation on Apple blogs of all kinds as to just what effects a feature like "bug fixes" will have on the market.

We're just kidding of course -- "Bug fixes" could mean anything. But the update is surprisingly large (242 mb) so as soon as we get it installed, we'll pick it apart.

It looks like the day of reckoning is here -- "bug fixes" is out, and may all the various Gods have mercy on our souls. The 2.0.1 software update for the iPhone and iPod touch is available in iTunes right now.

Thanks to everyone who sent this in!

I just upgraded my iPhone 3g with the 2.0.1 firmware, no problems. One annoying thing tho, when u do the restore settings wizard, it puts all the things on, contacts, messages etc. But when the iPhone restarts it brings up the same wizard in an endless loop? Make sense? Anyone else had this problem?

Haven't really noticed a difference with 2.01. SMS lag still here. Also Monkey Ball crashes on load, and even playing music sometimes randomnly stops and I need to close then relaunch the music player to get it working again.

Like the phone but the software still not there yet :s

Update has been terrible for my 3G. The only apps that currently launch are those preinstalled. Wiped my iTunes library, too.

It reset all of my contact's ringtones to the Default setting. The ringtones are still on the phone though.

Well, I did the update on my 1st Gen phone, syncing via USB to Windows XP, iTunes and Outlook.

My Outlook calendar failing to sync has been fixed, kind of. Several longstanding, recurring appointments disappeared and one got a new time. When I fixed it in Outlook and re-synced, the phone changed them back!

The problem with Mail requiring a reboot when going from EDGE to WiFi and back before it could get mail is not fixed.

Seem to have fewer crashes, and better overall performance, but the schedule and mail problems suck. Especially since the phone worked so well in 1.1.4.

Now I seem to have a hardware problem with the screen. I'm going to the Genius Bar tonight.

I'm really unhappy with Apple's quality on this 2.0 and higher issue. I used to rave about my iPhone, now I seriously consider getting rid of it.

I did mine last night and it went fine. No problems. I don't notice that my apps load any faster, but they weren't THAT slow to begin with. In fact, I'm impressed how quick the update went, really. I can't believe how much Apple has botched things lately though. Good thing I'm one of the lucky ones without problems.
