PwnageTool 2.0.2 is live

The iPhone-dev team recommends using the built in updater to get the latest version ... "Check for Updates" in your current version of PwnageTool. If you don't have luck with that, there are mirrors posted in the release announcement, along with notes regarding Installer.app/Cydia:
"Installer 4 Beta is included, it is added in any mode by default. The main installer package management interface within PwnageTool isn't enabled yet, and will report that installer.app isn't available, but the actual Installer.app package is added as a default option in both modes."
"The latest Cydia is also enabled by default."
Happy jailbreaking, and the usual disclaimers apply: back up your data, use at your own risk, and remember that Apple does not support software like PwnageTool.
Thanks to everyone who sent this in!

Erica took a look at Pwnage 2.0 recently, recommending that "casual jailbreakers" wait patiently for the kinks to be worked out. Well,...

August 11 2008 at 11:16 AM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyIs there a FAQ somewhere that explains how a jailbroken 3G iPhone works/doesn't work with the app store? I have a legitimate AT&T account, but want to jailbreak my iPhone. Will the apps I've purchased and downloaded keep working after jailbreaking? Will I be able to continue downloading and/or purchasing apps from Apple after jailbreaking, etc?
August 10 2008 at 11:28 PM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyPwnage 2.0.2 worked great jailbreaking my AT&T 3G iPhone. I did everything on the Mac through DFU mode then restored on my Windows PC. The only issue was after backup
restore was complete and all data back on iPhone itunes kept asking to restore. At that point setting up as new iPhone with same name worked fine. Just have to go into each sync area and turn them on (music, podcasts).

What is the difference between Installer and Cydia?
August 09 2008 at 8:05 PM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyInstaller runs but has nothing worth installing on it yet.
Cydia constantly crashes and you're left having to depend on Installer and play the waiting game.
(...for me, anyway.)
Cydia works fine for me on 2.0 and now 2.0.1
I like it better then installer. Works faster, gives me more info.

Question: When restoring after pwning your iPhone, does your music get restored as well? Even if the volume where the music is stored isn't available?
I guess another way to pose the question is: do the iPhone backups that iTunes does at every sync include all of your music and playlists?
everything fine except for googlemaps locateme...
basically does not work.. tried a fresh install... same result
any clues yet?
Was unlocked / jailbroken on 2.0 on my 1st gen iPhone. Built new 2.0.1 firmware with Pwnage 2.0.2. Did the firmware restore, then did a restore from backup in iTunes to get my settings back. Clicked "set up as new iPhone" in iTunes, but all my settings stayed just fine. Re-set all my sync playlists, synced. Everything is working fine. All my settings are intact, even my old SMS messages are still there. Nice.
I'm having none of the issues that others report. Cydia works fine. My mail app works fine. Everything seems a lot snappier, to be sure. No more waiting 15 seconds for the SMS screen to come up. Let's hope this release is considerably better than 2.0.
dont know if any if you guys notice that winpwn.com is down ,,,, an update maybe ??? (hopefully)
