Evernote for iPhone revved to 1.2, allows on-device editing
If you were underwhelmed by the initial release of Evernote's client app for the iPhone ("Hey, I can't edit these notes -- what's up with that?") you might be a bit happier now that version 1.2 has been cleared for takeoff in the App Store [store link]. The geotagging, photo-note-taking, audio-recording backup brain now gets editing features on the device, longer audio clips, bug fixes and more. One feature that's been in demand from iPhone users without unlimited data plans is a failsafe switch to prevent note synchronization unless the device is using a WiFi connection; it's present in this version, and it seems like a clever adaptation to the multi-network nature of the iPhone (of course, iPod touch users don't know from this 3G business, and Evernote works fine for them as well). You can download the updated version or check for updates in the App Store to get it.

AWESOME news. I'm a huge Evernote fan, and I was a bit letdown with the lack of editing of notes.

Would like the ability to have the notes stored on the actual phone. A lot of times I'm on a phone call and want to view a note to give someone a phone number or password and can't because you are unable to use the phone and data at the same time.

If you have 3g on, this is no big deal as you can do voice and data at the same time.
But I do agree that it is a good idea. Even if you could just view the notes on your phone and not edit them. Someway to keep a copy.

You are unable to use the phone and the web (data) at the same time only while using Edge.
3G works fine when doing both.

Nice! And when you go into Edit mode, you can actually read the text!
Too bad it's still illegible (4 pt. font) when you're viewing the Note. If Apple AND MagicPad can get it right, why not Evernote?
I can has legibal texts? Guess not.

Younote is hands down better than Evernote.
Much much better app. Younote is the best free iPhone App!!!

I second this!

That's nice - but the iPhone app is no use to me unless I can cache my data. Having a Touch, and with limited wi-fi access here in Sydney (unless I park myself at the Apple Store), relying on server connectivity to view my notes is still unacceptable. I'm sure the issue is being worked on (can Evernote drop us a hint that it IS being worked on, please?) but the lack of a cache is a real pain.

Why use Evernote when you have younote which does voice etc

Evernote does voice too you know. Also, does younote do OCR recognition in photos? I didn't think so. IMHO, Evernote rules them all. That's just my humble opinion of course. ;)

I really like Evernote because of the access I have to it from anywhere, and the search ability for the text in pictures. I've started photographing things like receipts and ideas for tech type stuff. The other note taking apps don't have the great appeal to me like Evernote does, because they lack this.

Weird...it doesn't show up as an update on my iPhone 3G...
