Adium 1.3 released

Multi-service, open source and free chat client Adium received a new point release tonight, with new features and a redesigned interface for viewing contact information.

Adium 1.3 features the following goodies:

Get Info Window is now called the "Contact Inspector"
The aforementioned Contact Inspector has a newly redesigned interface that allows for faster retrieval of contact information
Facebook chat is now integrated into Adium 1.3
Standard contact window list now features a search box (found by pressing command + F)
Improved MSN support with personal messages
Speed improvements
Multiple bug fixes

Are you logged into Facebook via a web browser at the same time?

This will prevent you from seeing contacts in Adium (and I presume prevent you from connecting, so I may be a little off)

The problem with the Facebook chat is that your web browser Facebook session will keep logging you off (at least in Safari, although I presume that is a Facebook session thing)

It also has a "psychic mode" plugin that lets you know when people are typing to you for the first time, so that you can type a quick "hello" before they finish and freak them out. Works like a charm. See Preferences->Advanced->Messages->Window Handling

Anyone else notice that the Adium dock item now goes transparent when you are in invisible mode - pretty cool I thought :)

Damn! This new version screwed up the language associated with each contact. It keeps defaulting to the OS default language, which in my case is French. Thing is, not ALL my contacts speak French... and when the French spellcheck keeps trying to correct my English, there's a lot of red everywhere!

It looks like it might be saving it properly AFTER sending an IM to the contact, but I'm not sure yet.

Is the MSN file transfer still painfully slow in this release? typically the file transfers when using adium are pathetic on my mbp and 8MB dsl line. I'm still at work so haven't tried this version but hoping for an improvement. If only iChat would support MSN with full audio/video wouldn't life be good....

They added new "emoticons" too. Maybe, just maybe, someday they'll add Skype emoticons. I need me some (heidy) on Adium.

And they screwed "spelling per contact" plugin from 1.3b11 to 1.3, don't know why.

Being someone who speaks 11 languages, it was perfect..
