Adium 1.3 released
Multi-service, open source and free chat client Adium received a new point release tonight, with new features and a redesigned interface for viewing contact information. Adium 1.3 features the following goodies:
- Get Info Window is now called the "Contact Inspector"
- The aforementioned Contact Inspector has a newly redesigned interface that allows for faster retrieval of contact information
- Facebook chat is now integrated into Adium 1.3
- Standard contact window list now features a search box (found by pressing command + F)
- Improved MSN support with personal messages
- Speed improvements
- Multiple bug fixes

It's prettier from the get-go, has a ton of features iChat doesn't including searchable chat transcripts and Growl notifications, and allows tons of customization of its behavior and appearance. Give it a try and you'll see :)
On the other hand, if you use voice/video chat in iChat, you should stick with iChat; Adium doesn't do that (yet).

If you want searchable chat transcripts and Growl notifications in iChat I suggest installing Chax. It also lets your Gtalk (Jabber) and AIM friends all co-exist in the same buddylist. It's free and makes iChat so much nicer.

While you may use just AIM, you may have friends that don't. If you set up accounts with many clients and use Adium, then you can be connected with more friends.

Liv, if you want it so, then contribute to it. The Adium Team are making brilliant additions to the application and it is hardly as though they aren't giving extra features as it is.

This is so weird... They sent me the new beta version earlier today (or was it last night? but still...)
Oh well...
Isaac I only use it because in Brazil everybody uses MSN Messenger, and I hate Microsofts version, especially because u still cant video chat...
If you only use AIM or Google Talk, just use iChat! I use iChat for both of this...

You can setup your twitter account to use GTalk, then use GTalk with Adium... voila!

Am i the only one who can't get Adium to work now? Seems to me, only version 1.2.7 works. The 1.2.8b11 wouldnt launch either, i had no problems before with the beta. This release won't launch either. I liked the msn personal messages :( If anyone has an idea why would this happen, I'd appreciate the help. I have deleted Adium, reinstalled, nothing makes it work. I had to reinstall version 1.2.7. Oh well..
Im on a macbook pro core 2 duo 2.2ghz, nvidia gpu 128mb .

And they screwed "spelling per contact" plugin from 1.3b11 to 1.3, don't know why.
Being someone who speaks 11 languages, it was perfect..

They added new "emoticons" too. Maybe, just maybe, someday they'll add Skype emoticons. I need me some (heidy) on Adium.
