iPhone factory worker is newly Internet famous

Last week you may have caught some photos going around of a cute Foxconn factory worker flashing peace signs. The photos were found on a UK man's brand-new iPhone, and posted at MacRumors.

The mystery girl's identity is being protected by Foxconn, and a company spokesman said that her job is not in any danger. Taking pictures with the camera is a normal part of the testing procedure done before the phone is shipped out.

As with other Chinese internet celebrities, identities are hard to come by. Second Brother on the Right, who was part of the Olympic torch procession through many countries, is still anonymous.

That's not the REAL Foxconn girl. The Chinese government replaced the real one with a cuter girl.

Anonymous? No chinese internet celebrities?

Well, depends on how you look at it. You know, with a population of 1,3 billion people. And the same amount of people using the internet, as there are Americans.

I can tell you, there are quiiiiiiiiiiiite a lot of internet celebs over here.

She’s not flashing peace signs. The index-middle finger gesture is a "v" for victory and is a common photograph gesturing in East Asian cultures, almost like saying “cheese” in the U.S.

This photograph reminds me of the story of the dinner party at a Chinese restaurant. The bill came with a stack of eight fortune cookies. Each guest opened a fortune cookie and read the fortune. One guy had been quiet through the whole meal. When it was his turn, he read, "Help! I'm trapped in a fortune cookie factory!"

China is very close to our hearts. Our youngest is adopted from China. We hope for all those who don't have the freedoms we enjoy here. And we're grateful for the passion they show in gaining those freedoms. May we not take our freedom for granted and work hard to preserve it.
