AT&T: East coast iPhone data issues solved
Earlier today, many iPhone owners on the east coast (including yours truly) were experiencing data problems with AT&T. Specifically, my data transfer all but disappeared, including web and email, over EDGE. The weird part was that my iPhone was reporting a strong signal. It seems I wasn't alone.Electornista is reporting that the issue affected users from New York to Missouri, Massachusetts and North Carolina. AT&T responded and, as of this writing, it's been worked out. A representative said, "There was a routing issue affecting some wireless data use in the Northeast region ... technicians determined the cause and restored service at 11:56AM EDT."
So, flip on your iPhones, east coast-dwellers. We're back in business.

You guys really need to get rid of the stock iPhone image with 'cingular' as the network.

It did come back up around that time, but has been in and out for me all afternoon. There are definitely still issues going on.

Had problems in the midwest, too, actually. Working fine now, though.

Sounds link the situation when you're solidly connected to your wireless accesspoint in your house, but your cable modem isn't connected to the internet.....

At 5pm I called iPhone (orig) to iPhone (3G) in NC to my wife and went straight to VM multiple times or she got no ring and I *eventually* went to VM. Same for her trying to call me. SMS worked though.

Do you really think that AT&T is going to tell us the paying community and the rest of the U.S. what the problem is ?
I for one do NOT and there all corporate mongers and want there money and that is it. Ever since there pathetic signal came back and I can access everything again "VERY SLOWLY" there has been less bars in the same places.
Misleading advertisements and NO communication even the CEO is a BS artist.

I had to reset my phone to get it to work on the ride home in DC. After the reset, though, worked fine.

Well, in the DC area I've had data drop out (requiring a a flip into & out of airplane mode to reboot the radio) multiple times well into the evening. I'll believe it's fixed when my AT&T iPhone 3G retrieves mail or a web page as fast as my iPhone 1G retrieves the same thing over T-Mobile GPRS. Not a good track record for 3G data, that's for sure.

Data came back up for me last night around 7PM (Boston). It still was a bit sluggish, but this morning 3G seems back to normal. I wish I had called in to get a credit yesterday though...
