Call of Cthulhu: The Darkness Within coming to iPhone
"Ph'nglui mglw'nafh Cthulhu R'lyeh wgah'nagl fhtagn..." but not for long. A company called Digital Jokers, in conjunction with a subsidary called Mayhem Studios, is bringing HP Lovecraft's cuddly, horrible, insanity-inspiring Great Old One to the iPhone in the form of a graphical adventure game called Call of Cthulhu: The Darkness Within. It looks like fun, although if the laughable trailer is any indication, they'll need to do some spell checking and additional translation before the game actually goes live.Still, Cthulhu fans will slog through some pretty bad software if it means there's a good Lovecraftian story in the mix. We'll keep an eye on this one -- graphical horror-based adventure on the iPhone done well could make for a good (or should we say evil?) time.

As a huge lovecraft fan I hope this turns out to be good. The last video game in the genre (on the original xbox) was pretty dissapointing.

Really? I enjoyed the game and thought that it got pretty good ratings.

Those screen shots look horrible. Hopefully they'd employ a graphic artist who knows how to do more than straight lines and boxes before release.

Seems like a SA or 4chan prank, to be honest

Is that supposed to Cthulu? Eater-of-souls? I've seen scarier things in the fish tank at my local Red Lobster.

Reminds me of the 'Who Framed Roger Rabbit' Nintendo game (released in 1988)

Still, I'm itching for a "real" RPG on iPhone. Seems like so much potential. How about Fallout? That would be so awesome...

Those screenshots are from the the J2ME version released for other phones. I am the programmer of the iPhone version, and I can assure you that the graphical quality for the iPhone is way ahead what you see on those screenshots.
