Pixelmator puts new shortcuts in 1.2.3, pitches 1.3 Tempo beta
But the even bigger news is that beta 1.3 "Tempo" is right around the corner, and they're soliciting beta testers right now. If, like me, you use the thing every day and want to see what the new version is like, hit up their beta email and see if you can get a little testing in for them. This is an app that has grown in leaps and bounds ever since it first premiered. While it still isn't quite as in-depth or solid as many other image-editing apps out there, its style and relative simplicity has really won me over.

My favorite plucky little picture editor, Pixelmator, has recently updated to version 1.2.3 with a few bug fixes and improvements. They've...

Well I got Tempo beta in my email, and I can't figure out how to add text. With my previous version I just hit "T" and then clicked where I wanted text to go, and I could just start typing... now it opens a box that I can't type into. This is probably a dumb question, especially for a developer, but how do I insert text into an image now?

"Die hard" because you like a silly mid-nineties innovation that came in with the LC? Dude, to me, the command-only key is a return to the one true way--the way of the Mac Plus.

As for Pixelmator itself, I'm really glad its around, Photoshop is way to expensive and Elements is just not worth the price of admission for me. Pixelmator gets the job done without breaking the bank and looks beautiful to boot.
I've been with Adobe Photoshop since version 3 on OS 6, and I have to say its become a pig of an app (5.5 was its high point in my book). Sort of like how iTunes is taking on more than it should, they just keeping tasking it with more and more things.
Pixelmator came along at the perfect time for me, I really feel the devs are building an affordable full featured photo editor for the masses.
