Yet Another Fake Tablet

It's sad how much I want this whole tablet rumor to be true. So it's always a delightful surprise to find the latest Photoshopped fake in our inbox. Above is "Max Vinegar"'s contribution to the cause. I love the way it's artistically blurred, with just the right ceiling reflections and how the new-fashioned nano gives it a frisson of verisimilitude.

Got a better fauxtotablet? Drop a link into the comments and I'll put up a gallery of 'em.

OK we all want one...

How about TUAW make a contest out of it? Start with this one as the benchmark and give everyone 2 weeks to 1 month to come up with the most realistic image of a MAC tablet (with or without the nano).

Display all of the submissions and let everyone vote on the best one. TUAW gets to be the final judge for ties and such.

Then the winner gets something they would never buy for themselves (no, not a Zune) and their displayed picture for all to gawk at!

So instead of just saying "fake", Erica, care to elaborate on WHY it's a fake?

It's not "real" in the sense people want. They want a first party piece of hardware, not third party. The masses won't be satisfied until Apple makes one themselves.

Though I'd really like to see an actual consumer study on the demand for a tablet. Sure, the clamour for one here on TUAW (and other blogs) is deafening. This is a vocal minority, it seems to me.

True as this may be, Apple has already received multiple patents to bring touch to Leopard. They involve magnification of small interaction points upon touch and other gesture-based functions, as well as on-screen keyboards. Apple is definitely positioned to bring touch to Leopard.
