Sketches goes 1.3, offers discount for those who waited
At TUAW, we love the Sketches application for iPhone and iPod touch. Without a doubt, this app is the best way to draw/edit photos on the iPhone -- and it recently got better with update 1.3. This update gives you some additional functionality as well as providing some major improvements to current features:- You can now input text using the built-in soft keyboard. Now you won't have to attempt to read someone's horrible handwriting.
- Web sharing is now built-in. This feature is found on many other iPhone applications, and it is now standard in Sketches. You will no longer have to email your pictures to your computer -- just browse your masterpieces in your favorite web browser.
- You can now take one finger off the screen while placing images in a multi-finger gesture. This is handy when you are "zooming" an object and you run out of room on the screen.
- Additional shapes categories including "Office." The "Fun" and "Callouts" categories have additions as well.
To celebrate the launch of Sketches 1.3, the developer is offering the software for just $1.99 (regular price is $4.99). You can download Sketches from the iTunes App Store today for this special price. The special will last until Oct. 4, 2008.

1) Check frequently for free apps and download ANYTHING that looks like it might be worth having, in case the price goes up or the app gets pulled. (Happy owner of the original PhoneSaber. The new one looks like crap. How did LucasArts NOT know that people would want this from day 1? There has been a similar app for MacBooks out for YEARS.)
2) If you see something you kind of like but don't like the price... wait. It'll likely come down.
I thought everyone agreed that making links to tags like "Sketches" is irritating. One of the authors here said that they'd decided to stop doing it...
I want to find their website, not everything else you've written about Sketches... Why would I _ever_ want (or expect) the link to do that?
Thanks for this one - will definitely try it out...
Did anybody else notice that the All iPhone Apps, All iPod Touch Apps, and All Free iPhone Apps listings from the iTS side bar were missing as of yesterday? I found these extremely useful when looking for new stuff (mainly the All iPhone Apps link, when sorted by release date), but now I'm lost...
Just checked - that's pretty annoying. How the hell are we meant to find what's new now? Relying on the "New" section is utterly pointless as it's content isn't new...
Just tried:
Browse -> App Store -> [pick a category] -> Right click on column headings -> Select 'Release Date' -> Sort by the release date by clicking the column heading.
There doesn't appear to be a way to see everything though...
Yeah, I noticed this weekend that the All Iphone Apps link was only listing stuff from before Sep 15th, so maybe they are trying to fix that. But they definetly need to bring it back.
