LittleSnapper sneak peek
Last month, our friends at Realmac Software teased us with some screenshots of their newest application, LittleSnapper. LittleSnapper is a program that will let you take screenshots of full web pages, with adjustment and sharing features similar to Skitch.
The Realmac team has now produced a video (above) showing off how you can capture a web page, select a specific element from that page and quickly upload the image to Flickr. The video also shows off how LittleSnapper can be used to organize web screenshots into collections -- kind of like iPhoto -- complete with metadata.
For me, the DOM selector (it looks similar to what CSSEdit uses) is the most intriguing aspect of LittleSnapper. It isn't uncommon for me to want to grab a specific section from a web page, only to find that the image is embedded within the stylesheet. I can manually select that section with Snapz Pro or Skitch, but that can lack precision and will ultimately require me to spend more time prepping screenshots.
LittleSnapper is expected to be released at the end of the year.

I sooooo want this! This along with Clips will completely revamp the way I interact with my clipboard and organize my clippings, inspirations sources, etc...
Along with these two apps, I'm anxiously awaiting my beta copy of Espresso by MacRabbit! :D

I'm not sure i see the point of this when there are tools such as Paparazzi* around the net. I just need a little utility to actually take the screenshot, not an iPhoto / Skitch / whatever clone. That's one of the things i found great about Apple's products in OS X (when i first switched) was that everything had a single, simple, function. If i want to store these screenshots somewhere i can put them in iPhoto, if i want to upload them i've got Flickr (or .me, or an FTP client). Shrug.

I hear you -- but the problem with Paparazzi is that .5 will not run in Leopard and .43 is old and buggy. I had to stop using it all together.
If you don't take a ton of screenshots, I don't think this would be appealing. Since I take dozens of screenshots a day, anything that can manage them better, save me time and do a better job of capturing full web pages is something I want to use.

Christina,
Just use Command+Shift+4 for capturing small bits of your screen. Very handy.

For most tasks, I'm with you, CMD-Shift F4 is awesome -- but I'm still excited by the idea of DOM captures.

I know it's not P.C. but the name of this app makes me laugh.

No one ever mentions Web Snapper when mentioning screen capture utilities ( found @ http://www.tastyapps.com/ ).
Pretty awesome and offering the ability to capture full pages with vector as well as pixel based data, all links preserved - much better than Paparazzi IMO. Do yourself an favor and check it out!

So let me see if I understand this scenario.
You're browsing and you want to capture something, so you open little snapper to switch to their browser, navigate to your link again, choose DOM capture, resize the handles, save it, go to your library and add meta data, and finally post it to your Flikr account. And people are excited about this? For this scenario, Evernote blows LittleSnapper away.
Maybe the next sneak peak will show something exciting, but this is not.

Hi Bill
We'll be releasing another video tour soon that will show how you can snap webpages using the application's menu-bar item (and global keyboard shortcuts): the browser is simply built-in to allow for DOM snapping.
Thanks!

personally for me the skitch program is very cute and fun to use...little childish somewhat...but it has the power to be more than that...and the ability to upload to skitch.com or to mobileMe too...and you can take pics like photo booth does and then edit them directly in Skitch...and choose to upload or just drag to email or ichat etc...i think its a great little program...besides i like the Comic Life program that they make as well...its lots of fun to make a comic book layout of pics and add various captions comic book style...i did this with one of my friends birthday parties at a night club in downtown Ft Lauderdale at the beginning of the year...it was a blast...i then made them pdf's and printed them and sent them cross platform...it was great...love it
so since i dont do much total webpage clipping i think Paparazzi will work for my needs...and soon there will be a refresh so Leopard works good too...i dont have a problem with the older version on my Leopard Macbook
anyway...i remember someone doing a story on this LittleSnapper before and when i looked at the site...i saw that it had spelling errors on it...and then thought i would let them know about it...and they said that they are in England and that was how they spell such words...and I said well...if you are going to market something for American English buyers you need to use American English spelling or change the words to something that is spelled the same in both countries...and it seems they didnt take my suggestion to heart because it is still spelled wrong...TO ME!...lol
but i would think that it is not really known that English english and American english is different here in the states...i mean it is...but my thoughts when i went to their site was that they didnt know how to spell and made me leary of the products they have to sell...now that i know its a matter of variations in english spellings i understand more...but no where on the site does it state they are in england...website is not a dot UK...so anyway...i would love to hear if anyone agrees with me that when you see spelling and grammar errors on a site you are going to spend your money with...DOES IT MAKE YOU LEARY of the product quality or support?
just thought i would throw that out there...hehe
