iPhone 3G now available for online purchase

Since the introduction of the iPhone 3G, neither Apple nor AT&T has sold the device online. That is, until now. AT&T is now allowing customers the option of ordering an iPhone 3G on their store website.
You can now pick up an iPhone 3G in either 8GB or 16GB black/white configurations. The 8GB iPhone is being sold for $199US, and the 16GB for $299. If new isn't your thing, AT&T is also offering refurbished iPhones starting at $149 for an 8GB model. You can visit the AT&T online store for more information.

Why not DROP AT&T as a carrier for the Outstanding uses as found in the iPhone. The phone service is very poor. AT&T coverage is a FRAUD. SBC/Cingular now a Phony AT&T just can't measure up for TRUE service and is fumbling in many areas of coverage you would expect better. Apple, hurry up and DROP AT&T. The NEW Sprint-Nextel have BETTER 3G coverage than AT&T and have MUCH Improve service now with their new Pres. Why not even VERIZON? Anybody but AT&T for 3G Cell service

All this hype about Apple. It costs about Rs.32,000 or $730 for 8gb in India, way more than it should be. I certainly will not be buying it till it drops to 1/3rd of its current price.

It's getting harder to wait for the 3rd generation iPhone... especially if they launch with 32gig and new colours for the same price or less. My contract is up for renewal, but would hate to be lumped with an 18 month deal with a new one coming within 9 months or so (you know it's going to happen, and with Apple's interest in Nvidia, gaming... Id Software Mac/iPhone-loving...!!)
I may have to stick with my battered 2G model for a while, but so could do with gps/3g

The most important part that this article did not mention is that you can get 25% cashback when you buy from ATT via live.com do a search on live.com for ATT and hit refresh until you get the offer...
25% cash back makes for a pretty hot deal....
We're in the 21st century, this option should have been available from launch!
