Apple updates MobileMe web apps

Apple released details of updates to MobileMe services for the web. It's the second time this month Apple has noted service updates for MobileMe.

For Contacts, searching in large address books has been improved, along with better vCard-Address Book integration. You can also press Shift + Control + N to create a new contact while using the Contacts web app.

Also included in the update is sorting of To Do items in Calendar, Japanese language support for iDisk file names, and the addition of several international domains that now work with hosted iWeb pages.

A full list of the changes is available on Apple's website, along with changes from earlier this month.

i'm shocked (unless i just haven't figured out how to do it) that you can't get birthdays in iCalendar to show up in mobile me or on the iPhone. i can't believe i have to rely on facebook to make sure i don't miss someone's birthday.

RE: iDisk Share

I think that Apple should change "Coming Soon" to "Coming when we damn well feel like it".

Thats the only reason I signed up for MobileMe and it pisses me off that they can't enable this feature. It's been what, like 5 months now? How is that coming soon?

I use the Godaddy online file folder and I'll just cancel MobileMe when it comes time to renew. Godaddy folder costs just $9.99 per year (not $99!) and works well. Link is below if you want to check it out.

Yay!!

We can finally sync Notes and To Do items to Me.com and/or our iPhones!!

...whoops, sorry. Still not working...

- yet another thing that makes me feel like ass everytime I have to explain to a client that they can't do (including cut/paste on iPhone).

@ wcheese

I couldn't agree more with every single word you said. In fact I think it needs to be said more often.

Too little, too late. I am finally letting go of my .mac/.me account and shifting over to Gmail. It just isn't worth $99.

MobileMe's calendar app may seriously be the worst web calendar out there. I don't think I've ever seen a calendar that wasn't smart enough to adjust the end time when you change the start time or to understand that "415" means "4:15". And no options for reminders?

For something they charge $99/year for you'd think they'd put more effort into it. It truly is a piece of junk.

i can safely say, with no hesitation that the web apps are just as awful as they ever are. i have to use them everyday at work, and they are slow unresponsive, and barely function no matter what browser i use.
it boggles my mind how crap they are.........

But we're still waiting on a feature promised at launch. iDisk is supposed to have a share feature... so you can select any file and select a share file link to give to others for simple download.

What could possibly be taking them so long on such a simple feature.

When considering that this "promised" feature remains absent, keep in mind this is from the same company that finds the lack of something as commonplace as "cut & paste" (for the iPhone) not to be too pressing either.

I love Apple and their products, but as much as there is love there is an underlying frustration running just beneath the surface - neglecting small but far reaching details that taint the user's experience...but I know there is tons of things they do do right, why these things are able to irritate so much!
