Mac Giving Tree now gives more than Mac apps
We told you about the Mac Giving Tree over the weekend. It is a project from the guys over at MacHeist, and gives Mac users free applications just by creating a MacHeist account and referring friends. They have already given away copies of Enigmo 2 and Synergy, and now they are at it again. If you have been watching the tree, then you know something has been up. The Giving Tree now has iPhone application icons sprouting up around it -- what does it all mean? When the icons grow and start wiggling you are able to click them and join a drawing for the application. If you are a winner you will receive a promo code for the app specified. Wurdle, Fieldrunners, Flick Fishing, Moto Chaser, WeightBot, and Frenzic are just some of the apps being offered.
If you wish to try your
Please note that the promo codes are US only at this time -- so you must redeem them inside of the US App Store.

December 25 2008 at 2:41 AM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down Replyi have won 4 different iphone apps from the giving tree...its great but addicting...trying to win apps and not over and over again..but you have to be signed in to your macheist account for the apps to appear on the tree...and as far as the packages you have to have that person you sent an invite to join the site...they are trying to build up the list of people for MacHeist 3
the new Opera 10 beta browser works great for this...and it has amazing other benefits and features...it even has widget games etc you can download...and different skins that can also be downloaded like Firefox does...i like the new Opera...even tho i have been a total Safari user for the longest time...so i use them both now...
also have the giving tree opened in two both browsers so i can try to win more...
there is nothing better than free stuff...love it...way to go MacHeist...you are the best
I haven't won a thing... it's a piece of junk :)

December 24 2008 at 5:33 PM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplySo is it now renamed "Generally Apple-related Software Giving Tree"?
December 24 2008 at 4:19 PM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyHere is the Christmas App I liked. It's outstanding because it leverages unique iphone accelerometer functionality. The majority of the Christmas Iphone apps are just copycats from the web games. If someone comes up with the Iphone app and wants to win it should be unique. A perfect example of this is Christmas Shake http://itunes.apple.com/WebObjects/MZStore.woa/wa/viewSoftware?id=300478842&mt=8
I guess we all should learn this year - it's the first Christmas season for Iphone lol
Everyone complain to Apple!

December 25 2008 at 5:04 AM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplySorry, bad reading of my part: I didn't get any iPhone stuff yet, but I received the other presents though. The kids love Enigmo 2.
December 25 2008 at 5:07 AM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyI'm not getting the iPhone icons on my tree. Maybe they pop up after referrals? I did one referral and there's a little dog ornament shows me a sudoku program for $3.
December 24 2008 at 12:00 AM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyYou have to be patient. The icons will slowly grow in size, once it starts wiggling you can click on it for a chance to win. If you are getting the app info when you roll over what appears to be nothing, it just means that the icon is too small to see - give it time.
