Edge (the game) coming to the iPhone next week

No, not the Edge network from AT&T, but a rather unique app from Mobigame that uses the motion sensors of the iPhone and some powerful animations to make for a unique gaming experience. Looking a bit like something out of the movie Tron, Edge allows you to control a cube through several hazardous environments and traps that get more and more complicated as you move along.

The best way to get an idea of what the game looks like is with this YouTube video Mobigame has posted. Edge has been available on other platforms like the Sony Ericsson handsets, but it will debut on the iPhone and iPod touch next week. There are 26 different mazes to navigate, using the iPhone touch screen and accelerometer.

Edge has been nominated for several gaming awards in Europe and has the potential to be a major hit on the iPhone/iPod touch. We'll be anxious to try this one ASAP.

Hmmm . . . For some reason, this game makes me want to play LodeRunner, or LodeRunner 2. Having those two games on the iPhone and iPod touch would be great. I'm not sure how the controls would work, though.

Similar to 'Cubicman' but looks like a much better implementation and use of the iphone hardware. Some of these obstacles look really interesting, especially the 'walker' one, lol. Liking the music too.

I'd love to see someone create an iPhone version of Oxyd. That was a fun marble type game.

Edge looks fun, though, but some of the levels in that video look *tough*.

Look like a rehash of Marble Madness.

Marble Madness didn't allow your "character" to hang off cliffs or go up walls.

But otherwise, you're right... it's the same type of rollerpuzzle

Wow wow! That game looks really awesome! I will definitely be picking this up.

My only concern would be how touchy/responsive the controls are...

Wow, when I saw the headline I thought it was referring to http://www.rzanerutledge.com/edge/index.html. And here I am plotting my switch from Palm to iPhone! Sigh.

That looks amazing...but some of those levels look downright impossible without prior knowledge of them! The one at 1:00 to 1:08 in the video especially.
