Facebook for iPhone and iPod touch updated to version 2.1
In the online social networking space you've got your big guns: MySpace, to a lesser extent Twitter and for business users, LinkedIn. Facebook is also extremely popular and now, Facebook's client for iPhone and iPod touch has been updated to version 2.1. Among the changes for this update include fewer crashes (that's an important one), corrected timestamps for all time zones, improved sync time and faster loading of the inbox. It's also worth noting that Facebook for iPhone and iPod touch requires iPhone 2.2 firmware.
Other iPhone and iPod touch apps updated recently include Pandora, Things, Darkslide, Lists and the trifecta of iSteam, iFog and icanhascheezburger. So, fire up iTunes or the Applications app on your iPhone / iPod touch and go get 'em!
Be sure to let us know how they work in the comments.

The facebook update bricked the Facebook App for me. I can't get it to even load once. I tried rebooting and everything....anyone else?

No bricking here....seems to run fine. Sorry you're having issues.

Actually, the same thing happened to me. I had to update the app in iTunes on my Mac, delete it off my iPhone, then sync and reinstall. After reinstallation it's worked really well.

Wow, immediately after launching the updated FB app, my iphone completely crashed and is requiring me to restore it (i.e. wipe it clean). Nothing like this has ever happened to me since owning the iPhone.

Not only did updating (from the app store on the phone) brick the facebook app, it bricked my entire iphone and sent it into recovery mode...
At first I thought it was the battery dying, but when i plugged it into the wall the dreaded iTunes and USB cord logo appeared :(

Finally! My wife was having insane sync times with iPhone 2.2 due to a long backup. I read reports that the Facebook app was causing it and removing it fixed it for her. Well we just added this update to her phone and it appears it fixed this issue.

Wow, I wish I had known facebook was screwing up my backup times. It was taking up to 15 minutes. Much faster now!

the timestamp issue was really fucking annoying. im glad they finally fixed it. also the inbox fix was a nice touch.
i basically cannot backup my iphone anymore so i'll try to see if it really was facebook's fault.

The timestamp issue is fantastic. So glad that one's sorted.
Its still not perfect, I still cannot read a large message in my Inbox. I get a nice screen full of my friend's picture and name as I scroll.
Small steps in the right direction I guess.

I'm still having timestamp issues. Feed shows 7 seconds, profile shows 4 hours... 32 seconds -> 13 hours... 53 seconds -> 40 minutes. The first 3-4 items are usually right, everything after that is usually garbage. at least they seem to be in chronological order, though.

I think on the status page the "posted at" part is just how long it was since you opened the status update page, i.e. as you scroll down the time posted just keeps increasing according to how long it was since you opened the status update page, but whats really weird is when you start scrolling back up the time refreshes again so that what may have said 4 seconds when scrolling down now says 10 seconds. Guess we'll have to wait another 4 months for 2.2.....

I agree. Timestamps are still way off for me with this newest FB app version. Apparently everyone I know has some activity precisely "4 minutes ago", but it should actually be spread over today and yesterday.
Still a great app overall though. No other issues with it for me.

The status updates page now displays everything in seconds, even tho the top news page is now correct...

Timestamps are pretty screwed up on the status page.
OT: I notice that in iTunes it says "New" beside App Store. At what point does it stop being new? I believe it launched July 11th.

There is one HUGE feature missing from the Facebook app that I hoped would be fixed in 2.1 but it still hasn't been. Events are NOWHERE to be found! How silly is that? Can't tell you how many times I want to check the location or time of an event when I'm on the go...
