It's pretty obvious why they've done this.. a precedent has been set in the UK equivalent show in bringing on a largish, old guy who looks like he won't be able to dance. He went on to become the favorite and eventually quit the show because he thought he was taking too much attention away from the better dancers:

Steve, don't fool around, just come back to Apple. If Jobs has trouble running the company, Woz is only person I think fit to run the company.

This appeals to me a lot more:
"Woz will be appearing alongside ... Belinda Carlisle"
I'd rather watch her rear end than Woz's any day.
Also, Dancing with the Stars has taken to having at least one "joke" dancer on each season. Usually an older gent who is less than attractive and cannot actually dance. This adds comic relief and gives the audience someone to identify with. What are the odds this character is being played by Woz this time around?
