Marvel comics coming to iTunes
Earlier this week at New York ComicCon, Marvel announced their intention to sell "In-Motion" comic books through the iTunes Store. According to Marvel, the In-Motion comics go beyond the paperback books with animated panels and voice-over work from popular actors. Sounds like something that could be a lot of fun on an iPod touch or iPhone.Speaking of paperbacks, traditional paper versions will be made available following iTunes releases. As of this writing, there's no word on when these will be sold or for how much. I'll sacrifice some geek cred here and admit that I've never been a comic book fan. However, I do get behind attempts to expand artistic endeavors into new territory. Good luck to Marvel!

if the price is right this could be huge. it is one of those analog things though, that feel of the comic book, that i'd miss. but, i haven't really bought physical comics for a while, so who am i to complain... bring 'em on!

It actually sounds as wretched as those old Spider-Man cartoons. You know, the ones that made Clutch Cargo look like Fantasia outtakes.

My Android toting brother has wanted something like this for a while. Maybe now he'll switch.

Isn't this what DC is already doing with Watchmen? I assume that this will only be specially created things not the normal monthlies?

This sounds interesting to me. If they are anything like Metal Gear Solid: Digital Graphic Novel for The PlayStation Portable it could be really good. I probably never would have read the metal gear graphic novel had it not been animated like it was. I recommend anybody check it out to see what the Marvel comics could be like.

I subscribed to the Watchmen Motion Comic on iTunes and have really enjoyed it. I'd like to see DC get more involved in this.
It's a great way to view graphic novels.

for years i have thought that this was an awful idea. but have you been in a comic shop lately? it's damn near $4 a book! that is nutty. i stopped purchasing a bunch of tittles i used to pick up because it was just too much. if these books go down to $1 an issue for a digital copy i think it will change the face of comics (and hopefully make my collection go up in value).

You know what would be even better? Does anyone remember those adventure books where you would read the story a few pages then you had to decide for the main character what their next move would be? Either continue on page xx or yy. That can be easily done and prevent the story from going stale. As a matter of fact, it can collect the info and decide where the story would go for the next edition. Hey Marvel! Are you listening?

Are you referring to the "Choose Your Own Adventure" books?
Dimplemonkey said 10:42PM on 2-10-2009
Exactly. Why not make a modernized iPhone app of the same name?!
