Zune gets a smackdown on Family Guy

As if the Microsoft Zune didn't have enough bad publicity, now the Fox Show Family Guy is beating up on the iPod competitor. In last night's episode, called "Ocean's Three and a Half", Carter Pewterschmidt asks Bill Gates for some help programming his Zune. Then Carter remembers he has an iPod, "like the rest of the world." Zing. Pow.

Of course Apple doesn't escape the sharp scalpel of satire either. In American Dad, a Fox show from the creator of Family Guy, Roger the Alien thought he was facing certain death and said: "I'm going to be dead, and I have two more years of AppleCare." Rim shot. Clank.

Here's a Hulu link to the clip from the show last night, and you can also watch the entire episode from the same link.

Thanks to Nick and John for the heads up. I've just got to start watching more television.

I'd just like to point out that I think this might have been their best episode to date.

I saw that last night!!! :) But I didn't think it would actually get its own headline on here... Family Guy, The Simpsons, King of the Hill, and American Dad are all awesome.

What I originally wanted to say here is that the Zune IS better if it's Zune vs. iPod classic, or Zune vs. third gen nano. The shuffle sucks so much that it's not fair to compare it to anything at all, and the touch is way too awesome to even stoop to any other iPod or Zune's level...

No, American Dad really is funny, because it can live without the "like that one time when…" joke, that is always annoying in FG. It's like the entire show consists of that line, and it just annoys the crap out of me, the only thing that's funny about FG is Stewie and Brian, the rest just stinks. Sorry, but Peter isn't funny, Louis is an exact copy of Marge, Meg is just there, and Chris is pretty redundant as well, all four of them are characters that already exist in cartoons in the exact same way, Stewie and Brian are characters that are actually a creation of FG, and they are funny, so they can be good if they just try, but they only did that with 2 out of 6 characters.
And Roger from American Dad is just hilarious, there's no denial.

I couldn't agree more... American Dad is the better show IMO. Sure there are lame joke references but they aren't pulled from thin air to be funny they fit in with the PLOT... and since it was mentioned.... I love the Simpsons but they too were just humble rip offs of The Flintstones.

Simpsons is NOT a rip off of the flintstones. Not even close.

Except if you're a Mac user. Then the Zune is a little plastic box with buttons on it.

yeah, something they really need to get to work on, this isnt the time to try and keep PC market share through only offer a product on PC, its not going to work, its just going to make people want to get something that will work with a Mac.

im getting a mac this fall, i have a Zune now, i'll just be using Bootcamp for windows for my music.
