Rumor: New iMacs around the bend
MacNN reports today that the long-anticipated refresh of the iMac line -- including the new NVIDIA graphics subsystems -- may be just around the corner. Supplies of the existing models are said to be lean in the channel and education sales team members are supposedly extending high discounts to customers in order to clear out the existing inventory. While things have been Perry Mason tense between Intel and NVIDIA (worse today, if you caught Engadget's story) it would seem from the MacNN tipster that the legal dispute over integration with Intel's new processors won't prevent new iMacs from hitting the street. That's a relief, if true; I've heard from multiple people in the past week or two who really want to buy a new iMac but are holding out for the model refresh.

not that I don't want a mini...
but I'm so excited to get the iMac refreshed... I also want a larger iMac... over 24 inches, I think that would be wonderful.
or just a 24 inch iMac with a MUCH better graphics card. I just want the whole mac desktop line updated...

I need an new computer next week, any chance it'll happen that soon? I forgot, what's the policy on product updates? Isn't there a period that you can return it for the new version?

Finally! I'm definitely one of those people holding out for the new iMacs.
I could actually do with the current specs just fine, but I know waiting for, what will be, higher specs for the same (similar) price will give the product longevity.

What do you think: Firewire or no Firewire?

Hopefully? Firewire.
Probably? No firewire.
Piers said 4:34AM on 2-25-2009
Yep, I reckon firewire 800 only.

New iMac without firewire = End of civilization as we know it!
