Apple event will highlight iPhone OS 3.0
Earlier today, Apple issued a press event announcement that promises to offer a "sneak peek" at iPhone OS 3.0. It'll go down at 10am Pacific on March 17th in Apple's Town Hall building in Cupertino. As usual, the whole thing is rather cryptic. From the "blueprint" graphic and text, it sounds like the event will be limited to an overview (but not a release) of iPhone OS 3.0. Perhaps we'll learn a bit about any changes to the SDK as well.
What would you like to see? Copy and paste, for sure. Push notifications for 3rd party apps next. Anything else?
Finally, we don't know who will be doing the talking. Typically, we just assumed it would be Steve.

Voice Over, Nike+, copy & paste, push. That's what I want to see in 3.0

MMS more like. though the existence of MMS apps in the app store probably means it's not a feature Apple wants to develop.

If AT&T wants to charge extra for MMS messages, I'd bet the farm on Apple never including it.

I'm hoping for an architecture that splits iphone into current-size and the 9.8" size. Thinking less grand, I'll settle for some love for professionals not just consumers. Searchable email, vcards, and the perenial push and copy/paste
I love my 3G iPhone, but just made a recommendation that someone get a BB Bold. I don't feel like a traitor, iPhone's not ready for business yet.

Would expect this to make it's way to the First Gen iPhone. Would love to see full A2DP support, OBEX and DUN tethering via Blue Tooth. Would love to see better background tasks and just more speed.
What I expect to see is push notifications and maaaaaybe Copy/Paste. I also expect apple to think of things to do with the iPhone that none of us have thought of. They are a clever bunch, no?

A2DP for sure, but probably never going to happen because the white earbud cord had become as much as a trademark look as the original ipod design.

Absolutely! My fiancee can't understand why I can't send a picture I just took with the Jesus phone to a friend's phone. I could do that with my Pearl after all.

MMS is unnecessary. The device can E-MAIL.

In all seriousness, I'm not sure how long Apple can continue to ignore these requests and still remain viable.

"MMS messages. It's 2009."
erm, thats exactly why its not there, its 2009, not 1999, email my friend

@jwkpiano1
That's all good and well if you want to email something, but not if you want to send or receive MMS like the vast majority of the market. A basic phone has MMS, so sending that person an email is pointless. Likewise, them sending an MMS to me is a pain in the ass because AT&T has the most ridiculous system of clicking on a link, entering random characters, and waiting for their extremely slow website to load. Not iPhone friendly in the least.

I so wish this were true, but until 99% of mobile phones are configured out of the box to receive picture email using push notification it just isn't a replacement for MMS.
I also am unable to receive such notifications from my friends who according to @bob are all stuck in 1999. Well - technically I can receive the notification, I just cant view the multimedia content without a full blown computer (silly).
