Cha-Ching Touch now available
Last month, we got a sneak peek at Cha-Ching Touch, the finance app for the iPhone and iPod touch from Midnight Apps. Now, it's ready to go. We haven't played with it yet (a full review is coming), but I definitely see the appeal of a quick and easy mobile finance tracker (which is a long-winded way to say "money app"). Years ago, I had a great check register application on my Palm and I loved it. It simply monitored money in and out with some basic categorization. That's what we're after, and Cha-Ching sounds like it's going in the right direction.
You can monitor your budget and enter location-aware transactions. There's good news for owners of the desktop version, too. Namely, transaction histories will sync to the iPhone client via WiFi. Neat.
There's a demo video here. It's a nice looking app, that's for sure. You can currently pick it up from The App Store for an introductory price of $2.99US. Again, we'll let you know what we think after we've put it through its paces.

Cha-Ching has nothing on iBank. I won't go on forever about it, just check it out.

do it.
Can't use Japanese on it. Worthless.

Especially after reading the glowing reviews above. Crappy customer service? I'll take a pass.
I agree with most people on here but I have to say... MidnightApps have REALLY turned over a new leaf. Not only is Cha-Ching Touch a solid app (sure there's room for improvement) but they are supporting both the 2.0 beta and the Touch version EXTREMELY well on their forums.
I was honestly floored with their support turn around. They are really winning me back (and I'm really enjoying Cha-Ching Touch!).
It is early, but I hope it continues (and they hire some more people to help!).
I am happy this was reported, even though it hasn't been reviewed yet. I've been using Cha-Ching for a little over a year now and couldn't be more pleased. It seems to me people review it for what they wish it was, rather than what it is.
Put simply, it's an app that does one thing, and does it well. If you need more advanced features, it would be best to look at some of the other apps that are built to provide those features.
I will agree the price is definitely hard to swallow, but since I got it as part of the MacHeist bundle, the price really wasn't an issue for me. And I'm pleased to hear those who got 1.0 through MacHeist will receive a free upgrade to 2.0. Can't beat that!
As far as the iPhone app, I'm already hooked. It will be so nice to enter transactions when I'm away and then have them sync over wireless when I return home...very nice!
I don't think the app is lame. I think it looks nice and is pretty nicely organized. There are stuff I like in v.1 more than v.2 though (Layout wise).
I personally just wanted something on my Iphone which is fast, looks nice (because I care), and can basically give me my statement on the fly.
If the iPhone app is as lame as the desktop app, that I paid for at the time, then I hope no-one will fall for this. And like other commenters said: an article like this would have real value if the author had actually tested the app before writing about it.

March 24 2009 at 12:06 PM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down Reply@quandmeme it can absolutely completely stand on its own. It doesn't require the desktop version for any features to be enabled.
March 24 2009 at 11:58 AM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyYou should get a free copy if you own the desktop app.
March 24 2009 at 11:33 AM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyAs above, I really have been waiting for this, maybe the readers can fill in for TUAW, how useful is it if it won't be synchronized with the Mac app? Can it stand alone?
