Beta 4 of iPhone SDK 3 is out

Just a quick heads-up on the flood of tips in our inbox this morning: Beta 4 of the iPhone 3.0 SDK is available now, along with a preliminary build of iTunes 8.2.

New features noted by readers include support for additional over-the-air PIM synchronization sources (including Google and Yahoo in iTunes, per Joachim), copy and paste in Calculator, continued tethering support, and a basic UI for managing an iTunes store account. Update: reports coming in that Notes syncing requires Mac OS X 10.5.7, yet another broad hint that the OS revision is due momentarily.

Thanks to everyone who sent this in.

I'm wondering what the tweaks are, I want to load this on my iphone, but beta 3 was apparently not ready to do that without major issues still. http://www.audiocdburner.net

If you need help getting your UDID activated on a developers account i found the website that i linked to my name above actually found them in facebook, just click on my name to go there. They had me up and running in no time and i now have complete access to their Apple developers account with my own user ID and password. It was worth it, just my 2 cents for anyone who is in the same boat i was.

They also have all the links hosted on their site

If there are any developers out there who would be willing to put my phone on their UUID list it would be greatly appreciated!

You have to use xcode to install this version, I tried iTunes at first because I was lazy, but yah on beta 4 it bricks the phone and its pretty scary because it was in DFU mode but it had no screen! SDK full package is like 6gb also so its not a super simple thing to do. 3.0 is cool but its still a little buggy. I know everyone is excited but if you want it that bad just pony up some cash and become a developer.

That dude locked down his Twitter feed, so the link above no longer works. Fortunately (?), you can't really delete anything from Twitter.. archive here:

I installed beta 4 just fine through itunes 8.2 on a xp machine. Thats how I've done all of the updates and from what I understand majority of people do it this way (well through iTunes at least).

I just helped a new found friend today, they tried through iTunes on XP and are stuck in a reboot loop and can't get it stable enough to restore in iTunes.

I feel bad for the guy. :(
