Sting, Sarah McLachlan are hiding in your Garage(band)
Apple has added new "Learn to Play" lessons to the latest version of GarageBand, including two lessons by Sting and the first one by Sarah McLachlan. Gordon Sumner (a.k.a. Sting, so named by his friends when he wore a shirt with black and yellow stripes) will teach you how to play "Message in a Bottle" and "Fragile" (in my humble opinion, one of the lesser-known but more amazing Sting songs), and Sarah McLachlan, who really likes ice cream, will teach you how to play her "Angel." I miss Sarah McLachlan -- it's hard to believe we had someone that was even more bland than Norah Jones. But excuse my musical snobbery -- all three lessons are now available in the GarageBand Lesson Store for the low low price of $4.99. And lest you think I am anti-McLachlan in any way, think again: I too owned a copy of Surfacing. If you wanted to hang out with girls in my high school, you pretty much had to have a copy around at any given time. That, and Crash. Ah, how young we were.

You dissed a couple pop stars? I don't think that makes you a music snob. Just means you don't know where to take a piss. How can I exclude his posts from the RSS feed?

I agree. There's a difference between being witty and being a douchebag. The blogger took the latter choice.

Crash, that takes me back. Fair play, but at least DMB didn't make me feel like killing myself from a mixture of depressive lyrical imagery and a growing desire to escape the music.

Sarah McLachlan > Norah Jones everytime. She's a much better musician in my opinion, even if I'm not a fan of the genre. I also used to go trick-or-treating at her house when I was a kid and she'd always give the most candy out of anyone in the city =]

Norah Jones' half-sister = better than either Sarah or Norah (IMHO).

Seriously? This is the second time this week I've seen nothing but OT personal attacks on someone here for writing an opinion piece.
The piece is on GarageBand's learn to play feature... it's not a music review. Get over it.
Personally I find garage bands "learn to play" rather disappointing. I'd really like to see a comprehensive lesson set that takes someone from never touched an instrument to actually playing. A dozen lessons is never going to do that. I've tried a half dozen software packages and all of is pathetic for truly learning to play music. Rather than focus on advanced lessons from famous musicians I'd like to see 100 lessons from good teachers.

Not sure i understand what you are saying, personal attacks or opinion piece? Tit for tat?

People are attacking a column that has attacks in it. I like all the artists mentioned especially Sarah McLachlan. She's cool. Lay off her Schramm!

Only if you're talking about the live version.

When you say "Apple has added new "Learn to Play" lessons to the latest version of GarageBand" you confuse me.
Are these lessons part of the lesson store, and have to be downloaded individually?
If they were part of the latest version of GarageBand, then they would be included, wouldn't they?
If a person has an older (non-current) version of GarageBand '09, wouldn't these lessons still show up for them?
 by the writing...

so, personal music taste aside... how are the lessons?
just out of curiosity, would you post the rest of your 1997 CD collection. it would help put in perspective your post, i think.
