Twitterrific 2 for iPhone and iPod touch available
The Iconfactory's Twitterrific was one of the first Twitter applications for the iPhone and iPod touch. Since its introduction, The Twitter App Wars have begun in earnest. If Twitter is the Belle of the Ball, there's a long line of suitors who want to be her beau. The new Twitterrific makes a serious play for her affection. Long-absent features like multiple account support, search and "tweet actions" like re-tweeting are all included, plus new goodies like a gorgeous, color-coded tabbed UI and the Filter Bar. Quickly find your mentions via "@ replies," direct messages, starred favorites or tweets you've "marked," which are like private favorites.
There's so much more to this app and we'll have a full review for you soon. Until then, you can get familiar with Twitterrific 2 on the new "Tweetorials" page. Twitterrific 2 Premium is available now from the App Store [link] for $3.99US. An ad-supported free version is also available [link].

It is a great twitter app, only thing I miss from my tweetie experience is posting in landscape mode. Apart from that - my wishes came true!

Ditto what aleenm88 said. I tried out Twitterriffic 2.0, the interface just feels like it's hindering me a bit, can't explain it in more detail than that. I can't get around to what I need to very easily, and I don't like how the main screen shows everything (tweets, DMs, @replies, etc) and you have to filter them. Tweetie does that by default. Back to Tweetie!

Yeah, I have mixed emotions on the Twitteriffic 2.0 interface. I preferred the simpler interface of the last build... Trying new apps now...

I dont understand the Tweetie obsession. TwitterFon does everything it does and more! Including highlighting unread tweets upon launch!

Tweetie has a much nicer interface (that's subjective, of course). TwitterFon won't let you easily see @mentions for a specific user (e.g. if you wanna see all tweets mentioning Trent Reznor). TwitterFon has poor integration with image services (yFrog, TwitPic, etc) compared to Tweetie. But TwitterFon is great for the price! ($0)

Unless TwitterFon has changed since I tried it, you can only use 1 account. Tweetie allows as many as you want. I currently have two (work and personal,) and will be adding a 3rd soon. So for me, TwitterFon cannot possibly work, while Tweetie can. Is that reason enough?

I gave Twitterrific more of a chance, and I change my opinion a bit.
The interface is nice, actually. I can see a benefit to having all DMs/@replies/tweets in one spot. This really should be an option, perhaps, not entirely sure.
Problems with Twitterrific that they should really consider:
- can't view enlarged photo of someone's avatar
- poor integration with yFrog/TwitPic, etc (tapping on these links from within Tweetie nicely just shows you the photo itself, rather than taking you to the web page)
- limits viewing tweets back to 1 day ago, where's the button at the bottom saying "Load more"??
Pros:
- highly configurable, this is a huge bonus
- conversation thread view is awesome, compared to Tweetie's (repeatedly tapping "in reply to.." button)
Anyone care to add to the list of pros/cons?

Twitterrific is just way too much unnecessary for a simple twitter user. I suggest the free twitterfon, tweetie and twitterena, one of the newest twitter clients is really nice too.

twitterfon - free
twitterena - $0.99
tweetie - $1.99

Too little, too late. I'll stick with Tweetie on both the iPhone and the Mac.
