What I'd like to see in iPhone 3.0 (but probably won't)
Yeah, I know we haven't seen it yet, but based on what we do know, here's some things I'll bet Apple missed that I'd like to see ASAP.- Unified mailbox as an option: This works great in OS X. I sure am getting tired of checking 3 email accounts with hundreds of extra finger swipes every day. Even an icon to get me to any inbox I want to see would be an improvement. Some people don't want this. A simple software switch would be fine.
- Louder speakerphone: I have no idea why this as been such a problem since day 1. The volume of this phone is just not loud enough in a noisy environment. Maybe this is a hardware thing, maybe it's software. Whatever. Just fix this!
- Getting to Bluetooth and location manager: These settings are just buried too deep. How about a switch in the top level of settings? Once again, save me all that tapping.
- Consistency of app settings: Sometimes they appear in settings, sometimes within the app. I shouldn't have to scrounge around trying to guess which app works which way.
- Moving icons around on the desktop: Have you ever tried to organize icons by type, or popularity? Gee whiz, what a nightmare. Maybe this could be done by dragging apps in iTunes, or some easy method on the phone itself would be even better. As it is now, it's like one of those old plastic puzzles where you had to get things in order. Every drag of an icon on the iPhone often has unexpected or at least unwanted results. This is not one of those 'it just works' things on the iPhone.

It seems that choice, if selected, could be applied when syncing just as is "sound check." Having the songs gently blend into each other when playing on "shuffle" is something I, and I suspect many other listners, would really enjoy.

I think Apple has done wonderfully over the years, to bring such smart technology to us that we could probably never figure out ourselves! Yes, I do think they could do a lot better on how to organize the icons since it can be a pain more than half the time and the core applications are mostly never needed after downloading a bunch of apps!! But to have something programmed in the phone to bring up just the keypad that's plain lazy!! =( I can't wait till they come out with the newer model though!
What I personally think they should add is:
-Option to view more rows of applications on the original screen so there's less pages.
-Option to tap the battery and show a percentage of how much life is left.
-Wallpapers would be great!!
-And more room to fit songs on iPod.
-Ability to be able to pause a game and return to it the same from when you left.
Besides that the iPhone 3G really doesn't have that many problems to it!!
I'd love to see Apple hire the people who did SBSettings, and fold that into the main OS, possibly with a more iPhonesque appearance.

Threaded email would be nice to see. Although Gmail's iPhone version is quite good, iPhone's Mail just seems a bit quicker.

This has NOTHING to do with apple, you'll have to contact the appmakers ;)
I have a whole slew of calendars in my iCal. One of these have week long appointment with ISO week numbers (which are conspicuously absent from iCal). I'd like these to show in the calendar, but not show with a dot in the overview grid. In other words, I'd like to disable the dot in the grid for select calendars.

I used to be an AT&T customer until our company switched to Verizon a few years ago. The coverage with Verizon has been much better, and I STILL hear complaints about AT&T from people that are stuck with them.
I look forward to the expected update to the iPhone this coming week, but it's sad to think that no matter what improvements they come up with, I will not be getting one unless it's available on a better network.
Camera app. Touching anywhere on the screen takes the photo.
