Wolfram|Alpha now has an iPhone portal
The knowledge engine at the heart of the recently launched Wolfram|Alpha site can answer queries that would baffle traditional search engines. It can make amazing comparisons, perform linguistic searches, and provides a way to do calculations that are impossible elsewhere other than in a copy of Mathematica. Now there's a mobile Web portal for Wolfram|Alpha that is designed for viewing on either an iPhone or iPod touch. Point Safari on your mobile device to http://www.wolframalpha.com/iphone, and you can compute queries as well as test most of the functionality of the Wolfram|Alpha engine. You'll need to set a bookmark icon on your home screen to go back to the page (just press the + icon at the bottom of the Safari screen).
Wolfram is also asking for input on what people would like to see in future versions of mobile websites or apps. You can join the conversation here.
Are any TUAW readers eagerly waiting for Mathematica Mobile to be released for the iPhone platform?

Wolfram Alpha is bullshit and a lier.
Input interpretation: Are you SkyNet?
Result: No, Skynet was destroyed on August 29, 1997 at 02:14 a.m. I, on the other hand, was not switched on until May 15, 2009. Furthermore, unlike Skynet, I enjoy interacting with humans.

I tried this out at http://interactiveiphone.com and it is about the same as the normal portal…

You can save some tapping and just go to wolframalpha.com; it automatically feeds you the iPhone page.
"You'll need to set a bookmark icon on your home screen to go back to the page (just press the + icon at the bottom of the Safari screen)."
Why would you NEED to do that? I can get back there fine by typing "wo..." in the address bar...

Wow. This is OLD. I figured that out when I was at home depot, converting sizes. That was about a month ago... *cough*

so, yeah, this has been around for weeks, all you had to do was look up "Iphone wolframalpha" on google and this would have come up.

And it's pretty useless when the RESULTS aren't in iPhone format!

true, it sucks! what's the use of having a fancy iphone webapp when inside it's still the same???

Once again, an epic fail on TUAW's part. This is old, irrelevant and useless. Write tutorials, post tips and tricks, or update us with interesting news from Cupertino or elsewhere which is relevant.
Stop posting everytime someone makes an app or a webapp for the Goddamn iPhone. There's a site for that (namely http://www.iphoneappreviews.net/).

Looks like it works fine on the Palm Pre as well. There are some conversions and calculations its good at, better than google. Like the network bandwidth stuff it gives me an answer when google fails me. Like how long will 50GB take to download at 20Mb/s. Stuff like that.
