TweetDeck for iPhone go for launch tonight
Kevin Rose is reporting that the iPhone version of the popular Twitter client TweetDeck is set to be launched tonight (Tuesday, June 16th) at 9 PM PDT. Although the free app will officially be announced at that time, availability is totally dependent on the whims of the App Store. Rose's leak of the app's impending release did not include any precognition of when the app will actually make it into our hands, nor was price information available.Mashable notes that TweetDeck for iPhone reflects many of the features of the desktop version, including multiple column-based friend groups and a beautiful user interface. TweetDeck for iPhone syncs with the desktop version, and is expected to provide the following features:
- Shake to refresh
- Support for multiple accounts
- Flick to move between columns
- Status updates similar to Facebook toolbar
Whether TweetDeck has the mojo to kick Twittelator off of my iPhone home screen remains to be seen. How about you, TUAW readers? What's your favorite Twitter app?
Update: Well, it looks like a number of blogs leaked the news, and TweetDeck for iPhone is now available for download in the App Store.

Gonna have to second your Twittelator suggestion. I'll try Tweetdeck when it comes out, but I doubt it will become my primary Twitter app.

All this kerfuffle for a Twitter client without push notification support?

None of the Twitter apps support push notifications because Twitter's servers aren't set up to do so. Also, push notifications requires pushing to a specific application. It's not something that developers can flick on with a switch. It's something Twitter has to figure out so that developers can use it.
And if anything, it'll probably cost money. Servers aren't free. Servers that can support push would cost even more.

it looks nice but does not have features i actually need and use such as finding tweeters near by or trending topics. i deleted it after 5 minutes. twitterrific is still number 1 for me.

Tweetie is my favorite. I couldn't stand using Tweet Desk on my desktop. So I'm going to guess I won't like this any better.

I am waiting for Nambu to step up their iPhone game. The desktop app is solid but would like to be able to sync the two like TweetDeck (which I read is coming on a future Nambu update). TweetDeck desktop eats resources and running on a older G4 that is no bueno.

It appears TweetDeck is on the App Store now and is free.
Personally, I'm a Tweetie user on the Mac (likely until Twitterrific gets a major upgrade) and a Twitterrific Premium user on the iPhone.

Downloading now. I'm stuck on a PC at work, where I use TweetDeck. It's a solid application with some great features. I'm installing TweetDeck for iPhone tonight. I'm particularly excited about the new sync features (one instance each on my work PC, my MacBook, and my iPhone, now I don't have to wade through old tweets each time I launch one).

Just installed TweetDeck for iPhone. It is a slick application! One of the best iPhone implementations I've seen--in any app category. This app provides seamless browsing with my desktop TweetDeck. At this point I think all other Twitter apps will get booted off my iPhone.

I've tried it but it doesn't beat tweetie for me.
I suppose it's more awesome if you use the desktop app, for the sync aspect.

I never liked TweetDeck (or any other AIR app) on the Mac, so I'm not likely to use it on my iPhone either, I guess…
On the iPhone I started with Twitterific, then Twinkle, then Twittelator Pro, then Tweetie (for a long time) and then came back to Twitterific Pro which I still use…! :)
I suppose TweetDeck is useful for people who follow a gazillion others and have even ten times as many followers -- just like Kevin Rose or so many of those self-proclaimed Social Media experts…!? ;)
For me, I'll stick with something that's not as overloaded with features I don't have a need for…

Twittelator Pro. End of Story. The only people who could argue against it are the ones not willing to pay the $5. It's the best. Period.

moren than $1 is pricy for a bloated service. In a year Twitter will be evolved into something that isn't full of useless information.
