TweetDeck for iPhone go for launch tonight

Kevin Rose is reporting that the iPhone version of the popular Twitter client TweetDeck is set to be launched tonight (Tuesday, June 16th) at 9 PM PDT. Although the free app will officially be announced at that time, availability is totally dependent on the whims of the App Store. Rose's leak of the app's impending release did not include any precognition of when the app will actually make it into our hands, nor was price information available.

Mashable notes that TweetDeck for iPhone reflects many of the features of the desktop version, including multiple column-based friend groups and a beautiful user interface. TweetDeck for iPhone syncs with the desktop version, and is expected to provide the following features:
  • Shake to refresh
  • Support for multiple accounts
  • Flick to move between columns
  • Status updates similar to Facebook toolbar
It was mentioned in our email discussions about this app that it's interesting to see a Cocoa Touch version of Tweetdeck before a Cocoa (Mac OS X) version; the desktop app is cross-platform and runs atop the Adobe AIR framework.

Whether TweetDeck has the mojo to kick Twittelator off of my iPhone home screen remains to be seen. How about you, TUAW readers? What's your favorite Twitter app?

Update: Well, it looks like a number of blogs leaked the news, and TweetDeck for iPhone is now available for download in the App Store.

I am a Tweetie user for iPhone and Mac, ore for speed than anything. Inmy tenminute run thorugh of TweetDeck iPhone though, I love what they have done, especially Groups and Unread counts by Group. My list is large enough now that Groups may be the killer feature for me, although Tweetie is still the speed/UI balance I like.

Both will live next to each other on my Home Screen for a month, until we have a winner!

well, twitterfon and twitterena both freeze after loading the last set of tweets when initializing the app. Let's see if twitterDeck will work!! I do use it on my main PC and I do like it. If it works on the IPhone remains to be seen! :)

TweetDeck for iPhone seems to crash when I try to load a person's profile, but the multi-account feature for free immediately beats TwitterFon Pro and the ability to create sub categories with filters so I can just read what the most important (to me) twitterers say, or just celebs or just news people make it great!
And it syncs with your desktop version.
It's my Twitter App of choice now.

Another vote for Twittelator Pro. Yeah, it costs 5 bucks but it's worth it. It has all the features you could want, the interface is simple and fast, and it has all the search and trending stuff you could want.

Tweetie is great too, just missing a few features I was looking for and found with Twittelator Pro.

Tweetdeck has the sync and columns, but that's not enough for me to switch. I don't follow 10,000 people on Twitter and don't plan on ever doing that so I don't need columns so much. Even when I use columns, I find that I ignore the filtered columns and still browse "all friends". I just don't follow anyone I'm not interested in.

SimplyTweet hands down.
May not be as slick looking, but functionality is great. Most underrated twitter client.

I'm not a huge twitter user, and I've picked my twitter clients solely on appearance (at the expense of some features, i'm sure)
I use tweetie on my Mac and use twitterific on my iPod.
