App updates, get yer fresh app updates -- maybe
As someone who is pretty addicted to downloading tons of apps on my now-antiquated iPhone, there are a lot of apps I just download, try, and forget. Like the 30+ fart apps I tried for a video, none of which I deleted. I have a thing about throwing stuff away, OK? Anyway, after all the OS 3.0 bruhaha died down, I decided to see what updates were available for the apps I keep. Two hundred. I have two hundred apps, many of them lite versions, itching to wiggle up into my download queue in iTunes.Compounding my rather large and embarrassingly out-of-date queue of apps, I got a "mature content" warning for an app, although Apple never tells you which app might have the inappropriate content. Just a warning that some crazy crap is in that list of 200, so don't go giving your iPhone to the kids -- or something. Worse yet is I'm still getting the -4 error many, many users are complaining about (note: it basically means Apple's servers are getting hammered). So, for now, all my updates are belong to Apple's servers.
What apps are you updating?

The problem I'm having when updating the apps on my iPhone is having to agree to the new iTunes Terms and Conditions with EVERY update.

just got updates on my phone to AP News, Shazam, and Around Me. The AP News now has the push capability, although I haven't seen an alert yet.

id love to know whether the push heavy app updates are being held up in apple's "approval" process or if they just arent ready. ive been looking forward to my gmail buddy list running uninterrupted since last june.

Don't know about iTunes, but the App Store app on the phone throws up the warnings for ratings on each applicable app.

getting a little worried about AP News' push: where is it? I downloaded the update, but in the settings still only Tap Tap Revenge shows under push. anyone else had the same?

You have to launch the app first, then select allow when prompted about the push notification request

I had the (-4) error for a while. Left things alone for half an hour, came back and the update activated. Now a happy bunny with OS 3.0 :) .

I am about to email shazam that their rating is just too high, and should have been limited to 12+, which offers same warning, but for almost everyone who uses iPhone. IT'S A SONG RECOGNITION SOFTWARE FOR SAKE!
Beside, doesn't iPhone OS 3.0 has enhanced parental security?

well that email would be a waste, considering that apple gives the ratings, not the app developers :)

Tell shazam to resubmit the app again. Hopefully, they will lower the rating.

Several applications were updated in my case , but , since i had them in several folders using the "categories " application ( which was for jailbroken phones ) , the apps do not appear in the springboard , yet , their settings do appear in the settings app.
I wonder if I am the only one wih this issue ?

Toggle "Restrictions" on and off. That generally resets the hiddenness of apps.

I just received an update for MLB At Bat 2009. I'm not sure if any 3.0-related functionality has been added, but it looks like live streaming video has been added for select games.

Streaming video -is- a 3.0 feature.

I haven't gotten any app updates yet. What's the deal? Been waiting for push since two WWDC's ago and now I can't me my apps!
Patience, patience....
Maybe I'll go read a book....or better yet, go outside....nevermind, there are comments to leave on blogs. I wonder what Engadget is up to? Maybe I can hammer their servers for a while.

Apple was very vague about when the 17+ rating should be used. Shazaam technically can be used to listen to songs with inappropriate lyrics, so according to to Apple, it deserves the rating.
Anything with user generated content is supposed to get 17+ unless you've got some form of monitoring services.

Does anyone know if apple will push updates to apps on your device? Wouldn't it be nice to see a badge notification if there were updates available for you? Why would I want to check throughout the day? Cmon that is so yesterday!
