Open thread: iPhone 3.0 upgrade experiences
Something's coming... Since having 100,000 people download a software update is just about as exciting as can be, we're opening up a liveblog in the 2nd half of this post to let you ask questions, share observations and generally get your 3.0 on.The TUAW bloggers will be passing through the chat during the afternoon as everyone has a chance to download and install the new software. Looking forward to hearing how it goes for everyone!
UPDATE: Yes, iPhone OS 3.0 is here and should be available via iTunes. Read more here. We're still covering installs and reports below.

Didn't have any problems.
Still wishing to get a new iPhone 3G S, but I am just testing out the features until then.

Updated our two iPhones 3G last week with the GM leak... has been working flawlessly (both the update and then regular use). "Find my phone" is very nice.

Lucky you. My 3G phone refused to be recognized as of last night by iTunes and iPhoto, put it into recovery mode to try and restore the firmware, and now it's bricked. Running the GM seed from the dev site since it came out last week and filed a report with Apple this morning.

Same thing happened to me and many others after the itunes 8.2 install. It seems the Apple Mobile Service is corrupted with some installs. itunes wouldn't recognize the iphone but it was visible in the system profile. I had to completely remove itunes and every library file related to it then reinstall 8.2 and it finally worked. There are many discussions around the web related to it.

Here's what worked for me in a similar situation (iPhone 3G no longer detected on any USB port, using 10.5.7 and 3.0 GM):

Hey if I'm getting a new iPhone 3GS should I upgrade my 3G to 3.0 before running an update or can I restore from my 2.2.1 3G straight to 3.0 3GS?

I upgraded to the GM already and am looking forward to getting some notifications...anyone received one? I just noticed today the notification setting, although I am sure I just didn't notice it prior.
