iFixit publishes iPhone 3G S teardown
Our screwdriver-happy pals over at iFixit have taken on the iPhone 3G S and the results do not disappoint! The iPhone 3G S doesn't just look like its predecessor externally, the internal physical design is also nearly identical. The location of the components on the main PCB has changed, but the actual physical design is the same,
A few highlights:
- The battery is only 6% larger than that of the iPhone 3G, so increased battery performance probably comes from better hardware and software efficiency.
- There is an additional antenna connection near the dock connector. iFixit isn't sure what that's for right now, but they'll continue to investigate.
- According to the iFixit guys, the new screen does seem slightly easier to clean, thanks to its oleophobic technology.

HOT...ifixit is the jam...
they have gotten me thru many an instance of fixing my macs and an iphone...
the only problem is there is many places out there like pdaparts.com which I believe has changed their name who caused me to destroy an iphone 3g with their lame video tutorial...which they will not own up to what they did by posting inferior directions
anyway...I would trust ifxit.com for any and all needs for do it yourself work on mac laptops and iphones
thanks for the new update TUAW...

and off topic has anyone noticed the change to the check boxes using snow leopard and safari 4?
it is impossible to tell if they are being checked or not
something that needs to be addressed before the full run of the new operating system
