Apple's new iPhone 3GS availability checker

The best way to avoid bitter disappointment is to use the newly posted iPhone 3GS availability page on the Apple website. Just select your state (sorry, it's US-only at this time) and a list of all of the Apple stores will appear with little green (got 'em!) or red (sorry...) icons matched to the model of iPhone 3GS that is your current object of desire. In the example shown above, most Colorado Apple Stores seem to have a good selection with the exception of the Twenty Ninth Street store in the People's Republic of Boulder.
Now that you can find out with a quick glance where the 3GS is available, what are you waiting for? Grab that credit card and go!

June 29 2009 at 9:18 PM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyWhat am I waiting for? I'm waiting for my Verizon Wireless contract to come to an end in a few months!
What's the best way to buy an iPhone? At the Apple Store? AT&T store? Online? I'll need to port my current number over, too.
I'm glad to see they adopted the circle/square aspect in addition to the colors. Colorblind Americans such as myself were unable to distinguish the difference before.
June 29 2009 at 12:42 PM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyAfter driving an hour one way, I learned the hard way that the web page is inaccurate and apparently is NOT "updated hourly" as Apple claims on their site. I checked the page yesterday before I left home and 3 times on my way there. In fact, I checked it a couple minutes before walking in the store and it said they had it available. They did not. In fact, 3 hours later the page still said they had it in stock. 6 hours later it still said they had it. I called the store again after I left to see what was up and they were still out. So the web page is not a reliable indicator. In fact, I found it to be worse than useless. CALL BEFORE GOING!

June 29 2009 at 12:44 PM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyIt's a bummer this only covers Apple retail stores. If you want to open up an AT&T account with a discount applied you can't buy it from Apple :(.

June 29 2009 at 2:06 PM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyThanks so much! I was actually just about to head over there this morning to get mine because my old (non-iPhone) just died over the weekend, providing a convenient excuse. Even better? The first store in the screenshot is where I'm headed! Of course, I'll be sure to check the current info too.
