Apple blows past other hardware web sites in May

Nielsen also took a look at blog mentions of the iPhone in early June, and the numbers are pretty striking there too. You can see the peak as the release date approached, with another peak on release day June 19.

They say if people are talking about you it's a good thing. By that measure things are really great at Apple.

Yea whatever, how about you do it when other companies release a new product too? Why isn't HTC on there? Nonsense and favoritism.

This is "the unofficial apple weblog" & not " the unofficial htc weblog" that's why.

Interesting logic, haroonpathan. I guess this makes this "The Unofficial Apple, Hewlett Packard, Dell, ..., IBM Weblog" as they are mentioned.
TUAW should be Apple focused, not Apple biased (though I wouldn't say this article is biased per se, more incomplete).

What are you guys going on about? HTC isn't mentioned because they didn't make the damn list. They do this study regardless of who is on top, it just happens to be Apple this time which is why an Apple blog is covering it.

who is "you"? the stats are from neilsen the same group that also monitors who's watching what on TV.. if you bothered to look a the report, you'd see mentions of other, non computer goods as well as a comment at the bottom
The Unofficial APPLE Weblog picked it up, because Apple was on the top.

congratulations to apple for winning another useless statistic..claiming people are looking for hardware ....apps and Itunes not included right
...you know this thing with apple and PC is childish and if either is not careful they are going to get run over ...by foreign competitors ...lets say ford and chevy ...for an example or RCA ...GE ...grow up boys and there fans the competition is knocking and they are coming fully armed and loaded ...

Yes, because people who visit XBOX, Sun and IBM's sites are also only looking for hardware and not games, Java, and enterprise software solutions. Apple never made any claim, Neilsen did based on data they collected.
This competition between "Apple and PC"? Who the heck is "PC", and why should they, a term that stands for personal computer, and Apple be afraid of foreign competition, whoever that may be? Is Commodore coming back from the dead with their Amiga?
puncturevine said 5:52PM on 6-30-2009
Competition ?....what, like another piece of garbage pc bundled with a linux distro ? Sorry, it's the integration of hardware with os and other software that makes apple so strong. Unless another company come out of nowhere with an UNBELIEVABLY good hardware product with it's own custom os, there will be no competition. The only companies in any position to do that right now would maybe be Dell or Sony. That's the reality right now.
Øivind said 12:52AM on 7-01-2009
What Bloobie said goes. He just forgot to mention that most people visiting the HP website, which is second on the list, is looking for drivers and support, not new hardware, so that's even more in favor of apple.com.
Macopotamus said 3:29PM on 6-30-2009
I have to agree with trontron.
Apple will have large numbers of hits for cell phones (iPhone 3GS) and software (Snow Leopard), so a comparison with only hardware vendors doesn't tell us very much. What are the figures for Palm, RIM, HTC? Microsoft in general.

I'll partially answer that question myself:
Microsoft - 98,227,000
(Source: http://www.nielsen-online.com/pr/pr_090616.pdf)
Of course, from this data, it would still be equally inaccurate to say "Microsoft blows past other operating system web sites in May".

A USB VoIP adapter and phone service, I think. I'm not sure why it's on there.

@ bob
In less time that it took to ask, "what the fuck is magicjack!?!>!!>!?", you could have googled it and found out.

Surely this stat includes discussions.apple.com. There's your pageviews and "unique audience."

Good point Luna. That's still a sh*t ton of page views.
And on another point when did this become the unoffical apple commetors blog. Geez people most of the comments I read on this site hate on apple and tuaw.

apple has one phone...HTC,acer, asus, samsung etc are coming with several feature packed phones ...anyone truly using SAFARI....and in case youhaven't noticed apple market share in computing market..is dropping and the turn around is no wehere in sight....and if you listen to ATT the new phone did well, but with Iphone people upgrading not many new converts or new sign ups....you guys have a shrinking market and buyer base....so if you don't know what PC is you truly are blind..and if you think I am anti Apple ....acer is about to pass DELL for number 2 ....sound familiar.....ask ford about that precious number 2 slot.....wake up apple people ...you are fighting the wrong war and going nowhere....ask pepsi what that is like

Wow!
The "Apple is dying" meme! Where have you been?
I thought you had died! ...Or slunk away in embarassment.
