Apple posts beta 2 for iPhone OS 3.1
Are you an iPhone dev? If so, head on over to Apple's iPhone Developer Center and download the latest 3.1 beta. Although 3.0 is just a few weeks old, Apple is already busy at work creating the next release and causing those of us who do technical writing to try our hardest to keep up.3.1 remains under an ongoing NDA and I cannot post details about any changes. So far the servers do not appear to be swamped so head on over and start your downloads. Separate SDK releases are available for Leopard and Snow Leopard, a policy Apple began with its 3.0 gold master SDK.
Thanks, everyone who is e-mailing us about this!

Can you somehow send it to me? I can't find where to download it. I have a beta testing account through a friend's developer account, so I don't have the ability to access the download on Apple's servers, but I can install it properly on my phone and have it work.

Considering how fast Apple is cranking out these releases makes me wonder how much quality testing is going into it. Or maybe that's the answer of why they are putting one out so quickly , to cover the bugs for the
things that didn't get tested in the last release. Nothing new there all software vendors do it these days, most call them "security" releases.
it would be refreshing to have one of them say "this release doesn't contain anything new, its just to fix the bugs in the last release that because we didn't test it very well".

Anyone lucky enough to get the beta...and unlucky enough to be plagued by variable Wi-Fi signal problems, please let us know if this beta solves it, makes it worse, or ignores it entirely.

Before the update a simple Network Settings reset fixed this for me
Go to SETTINGS - GENERAL - RESET - Reset Network Settings.
Hope it works.

So instead of walking into an Apple or AT&T store, and walking out with a fixed phone in minutes, you forked over money to some possibly shady operation to gain access to developer builds that Apple won't support.
I'd recommend people do not go this route. If you show up with a developer phone to an Apple store, they will not support or service the device. Instead they refer you to developer support. If your not an actual developer, then you will be out of luck.

I like how this article says TUAW can't talk about any of the changes in 3.1 beta 2 because of the NDA and the next article up is about a change in 3.1 beta 2.
/facepalm
Disclaimer: Yes, I'm a registered developer, and, yes, I'm constantly having to bite my tongue about changes in the pre-release versions of the iPhone OS.

It's just Erica reminding us that she's persecuted, and better than all of us.

I hope it fixed bugs, because 3.1b1 was extraordinarily buggy!!!

@Luigi192: Imagine that. A beta being buggy! Perhaps they should come up with a name for software that is still in testing and not ready for public use because it might be buggy.
Wait. How about calling it a BETA? Why didn't anyone think of that?

I think the Flick right from home screen to go to search screen works well.
How about using the same function flick but use up to go to general settings and down to go to networks / connectivity? Just a thought...

Anyone knows if Apple finally fixed the issue with meeting-invitations which arrive on the iPhone as MIME-attachments and can not be opened/accepted/declined on the iPhone? This is a long-time issue and I haven't heard if this is being addressed by Apple at all.
