WWDC Demo (and sneak peek): SciFly 2, a dogfight app for your iPhone or iPod touch

I was shocked to discover the young author of SciFly (iTunes link) hadn't even graduated high school when he first started coding, and wrote the original game while in high school. Based on his success with the first version, he dropped out of high school and has dedicated himself to iPhone development. From what I saw of SciFly 2, it may pay off. The sequel is a massive expansion on the original, with every bit of it written by a young man who seemed to have a versatile skill set and a passion for mobile development. We'll post on Twitter and Facebook when the sequel is available on the store. You can also try a a Lite version of the original here (iTunes link).

If you're already doing stuff like this a GED is good enough, HS was a waste of time cause it some areas, either filled with loosers or all "college prep" courses... don't need college when you're good already.

You mean *if* it's ever available in the AppStore. $AAPL seems to have one of those 400 fart apps stuck in their queue, I haven't received an update on any of the Apps I've purchased in well over a week.

Oh, and the really good one like QuadCamera.app? It's like day 45.

The real question is, in light of all the fiascos with the AppStore, why doesn't TUAW get after the real story? Why all this filler?

That '10 worst search terms' story put you on a par with TIRED.

No matter how good a coder he is, dropping out of high school is unlikely to be a good idea. One hopes this is not a move he'll end up regretting.

Exactly what I wanted to say, good or not, dropping out of high school really limits you.

Hi, this is Josh :-)

Thank you so much for your concern... I guess I'm just a very independent person all around, and that just doesn't go well at all with High School. I can't say for certain if leaving HS was the right thing to do financially, but I'm enjoying life much more now than I would be in school.

Of course, while I have left official High School, I continue to study various areas of math and science (with help from a long line engineers in the family). I will probably get a GED some time as well.

Anyway...

A huge thanks to Victor for putting this up!!! I just now realized it was posted :-)

I'll definitely let you know when SciFly 2 is ready for release.

-Josh
