Duke Nukem 3D brings classic carnage to iPhone gamers
Now playing on iPhones: the first-person shooter that armed a generation, Duke Nukem 3D [iTunes link], in all its crass and pixelated glory. While it may not be the best 13-year-old game on the platform, it's bound to be one of the more popular ones; the control system has been expanded for the touchscreen and early reviews on the App Store are positive [now followed by negative reviews in our comments below, particularly critical of the controls].Duke Nukem 3D is currently selling for $2.99, billed as a "One Day Launch Special"; no word on what the price will rise to when the sale is over. If you're hankering to do some damage, check it out.

Early reviews give this a positive rating?
I just read a pile of reviews saying the controls are garbage & wreck the game? How is that positive?

Too bad the controls are un-freaking-usable.

One classic game down, several more to go. Do I hear Doom (not the slimy piece available now)?

I bought it... A little upset I did. Like someone said above, the controls are garbage. Going from MiniGore which seems to have mastered the art of controlling, to Duke Nukem is nearly impossible. I can't even control where to shoot... There better be an update! $3 is far too much for an app that is nearly unusable...

Classic game, it brings back allot of memories, but how could they screw up the controls so badly... I mean, Wolfenstein 3Ds controls were wonderful, its easy to control, while these make the game very close to unplayable.

I have to agree. The controls are hard to get used to. I played it for a bit this morning, and was getting a little more used to them. But then I find I'm being attacked and it doesn't want to let me turn around to shoot them... frustrating.

Whoa, this app requires a microphone. It's not compatible with my iPod Touch.

I was hoping this would be as good as the Wolfenstein port. No such luck. The controls really are unusable.

The reviews are right, the controls are impossible. Analog or whatever the other option is, both are unusable. I couldn't even own the alien bastards for shooting up my ride. Time to chew some bubble gum.
