Facebook 3.0 for iPhone released
After a couple of weeks of waiting in the iTunes app store approval queue, the 3rd major update of the popular Facebook for iPhone [iTunes Link] application has been released. Joe Hewitt, the developer of the app, has been working on it for quite some time and submitted it for review on 8/16. If you're still seeing 2.5 in the app store, Joe suggests deleting the app from your phone and reinstalling it -- it will be 3.0.The new version includes some of the most requested features including:
- Better news feed with direct links to comments
- Ability to "Like" posts
- RSVP to events
- Create/upload photos to albums
- Write/edit notes
- Customizable home screen
- Improved photo viewing with zoom
- Better notifications
Check out some shots of the app in action:

i lied, it isn't on the auto update list, but if you remove it from your phone and download it on the app store it updates to 3.0.

Yeah, no update yet, the App Store still shows 2.5. I'm in Canada.

delete & then reinstall will get you up to the 3.0 (regardless of what it says).
Love the new interface - and it seems to be a lot quicker and smoother in the navigation of the app.

rebooting the device didn't solve the problem... the 2.5 version wasn't great...but if I can't get 3.0 to run then I guess that would make 2.5 better. Anyone else having issues???

i had to delete it on my mac, re purchase it [free]. it upgraded from there.
then i re synced my iphone. the status said the ap was upgrading. [ i never deleted it from the phone, cause i did not wanna lose the app placement]
works fine.

There is an internal web browser in Facebook 3.0 now, no more opening Safari!

Oh, and also, when you click on a Facebook application link, the browser will pop up and open the link ^_^

Kudos to these devs. This is such an improvement. It's actually a joy to use this app now. I especially love how much faster and reliable the photo galleries are.

Awesome. This is way better than 2.5. Event support was very much needed! The new interface is fantastic too. Third party posts to your wall (via applications) are showing up properly. I'm also not seeing duplicate news feed posts anymore!
