iCal all-day events causing MobileMe calendars to hiccup?
We received a tip from a frustrated reader this morning noting that when he published a calendar to MobileMe with iCal, it wasn't showing up if there were any all-day events in the calendar. I sorted through a few different examples and was able to verify that any calendar with 'all-day' events just doesn't publish. Of course, you'll end up with a URL, but it will go to Apple's default 404 page for Mobile Me. A quick browse through the Apple support discussions will tell you that it's not an isolated incident... the thread can be found here.
We're being told that Apple is currently working on a fix for this problem, but we thought it would be a valuable heads-up for our readers. If you have to publish to MobileMe, we'd suggest removing 'all-day' events from your calendars (or changing them to fixed-duration events) until Apple fixes this issue.
Thanks, Bob!

I have worked with MobleMe tech last week and a current work-around is to make iCal boot in 32-bit mode.

To do this you use inspector to get the info of iCal in your apps and you will see a checkbox to many iCal run 32-bit.
All day events and oublich will now work.

Well... I've been trying to get one of mine published for the last two days... It was driving me crazy...
Thanks for the heads up. Glad to know they are working to fix it.

It's much worse for me - all day events are simply disappearing out of my iCal after I enter them. I am totally giving up on iCal.

I've had this problem (or some other problem causing my calendars not to publish) since week before last, and was told that it was a known issue and would be fixed last week.

How about iDisk... I've found it completely useless with 10.6. It's so slow via the Finder that I've given up. Irritating that DropBox works so quickly and seamlessly, for free, albeit only 2 gigabytes, yet iDisk ($149 for my family pack) is completely incapable of syncing 3.3 gigabytes of data in a 36 hour period... yes, I let it run all weekend attempting to get it to sync.

Please, please, contact Apple MobileMe Chat support and report this issue. You should get escalated, and receive an e-mail back within a few days.

I forced a "relaunch" of finder (where you normally force quit an application, the only choice for finder is relaunch) which significantly sped up iDisk. It still is a bit slow, but now only takes 5-10 seconds to see subdirectories and files after clicking on them.

All Day Calendar events work fine for me between a new MacBook Pro and iPhone 3GS via .me account. Snow Leopard has been the best (though not perfect) and smoothest transition ever. When in doubt, just lay out.

Benjy -
yep it worked fine on the Macbook, iMac, and my iPhone... and also on me.com
it was when i published it to make it a viewable webpage (http://ical.me.com/bobinwisc/River) where it wouldn't show up.

@All - Maybe slightly OT, but isn't Calendar on the iPhone just not bringing what's needed. It is the underpowered little brother of iCal, which is already a bit low on UI and functionality. To name a few Calendar shortcomings:
- no bannerlike multiple day events visual representation
- no week view
- only 2 lines of detailed info available when in month view
- no todo
- no copy/paste/duplicate event options
- no decent sync (only with MobileMe)
- no gmail calendars
I personally really like BusyCal. Is there a iPhone version of BusyCal out there? I have Pocket Informant (PI) Light installed on my Iphone. But that might just seem a little bit TOO much functionality.
Thoughts, anyone?

I have found mobileme and idisk pretty much useless. multiple synching errors. data that could not be merged, slowness. unavailability etc (i live in europe). i have cancelled my subscription and configured google on bothh my and my wife´s iphone.
all works seamless now.
apple would better put some effort in and make this thing a lot more accessible.

The 32-bit fix for all day events does not seem to work for all people (see http://bit.ly/H6wun).

Interestingly, all I had to do is run iCal in 32 bit mode on one mac, publish it, and thereafter I could run iCal on all my macs in 64 bit mode and syncing was spot on.
I think it's the initial publishing after you've upgraded to Snow Leopard that is the problem.
And I do have many all day events that all publish.
