What's it going to take for us to get developers to release games for Apple products earlier than
two years after the fact? The iPhone, apparently -- EA has announced that
their soccer flagship FIFA 10 will be
available for the iPhone this Friday, which is the same day the console game shows up in stores as well. The game will have everything the full versions have, including real teams and leagues, a licensed soundtrack, and
all of the usual soccer standbys. One thing missing: online multiplayer, though local wifi multiplayer will be available.
Sounds good to us, especially if you're a fan of the sport all those crazy Europeans call football. The app should be $9.99, befitting of a premium EA sports app, though there will probably be a sale on it sooner or later. Now, about that actual Mac version...

I am hoping that the game play and graphics are better than the gameloft footy game which is a mess in comparison to their first version. If it's more than £5.99 then I wont be buying it.

Exactly. EA's highest grossing game (in the UK) is Scrabble, which is £2.99. In fact, barring the GPS apps, nearly no top-grossing apps cost more than £5.99.

EA and Gameloft to lower the prices they charge for their apps its too expensive, All of their games are over inside an hour.
Yet games like Zenonia and Hybrid are half the price and last well over 4x longer.

I can play Madden 10 for hours .. when being hook up to some power supply .. but the game itself isn't getting boring so soon.
I would assume that this is very similar for the Fifa release as well .. wait for a sale and grab a copy then I will ..

I love Madden its such a great game and that was well worth the money especially as I won the Superbowl with the Buffalo Bills. If the game play and graphics is anything like Madden then I'll stump up £5.99 happily. I hope they let us have a lite version to try out. Madden I've ben playing for two weeks now, it's addictive.

Actually pretty much everywhere else but America and Australia call it football...

Just like the metric system, which is the official measurement system in ALL countries except the Burma, Liberia and the US.

No kidding... I can't wait for a Mac version of it... I'd buy it immediately! :(
I'm hopeful that a lot of these gaming studios, after falling in love with developing for the iPhone and the good profit they can make (even keeping prices relatively cheap when compared with other mobile consoles), they might start getting into OSX development...
I do know of a lot of people who came into the Mac world *after* they got an iPod or iPhone and fell in love with its UI/UX... :)

Playing this without buttons is going to be impossible and will likely be very uncomfortable.

Once again, another useless comment by you. Touch controls work just fine. Get a life. Seriously, look at your post history here. Do you have anything positive to say, or do you just get a thrill off of bitching about products you don't own?

I don't doubt that they work, but how will your fingers feel after ten minutes or half an hour?

"all those crazy Europeans call football" - Mike Schramm, really to be honest, that is Football north americans are the only ones that call it Soccer. Football is way older than your so called Football, why the Americans call it football when they only kick it once in a while? Again Mike, do you really think Americans are the center of the universe? - By the way, im not from Europe.

I am going to have to agree with you Manuel and I'm american... The europeans aren't crazy... We are the one's that are crazy for not embracing the worlds most popular game.

I always thought "Run, Kick & Throw Ball" would be a better name for American football, but that's not exactly catchy, is it?

Too many damn football/soccer games in the app store. Give me a full on 3d, licensed nhl game and I'm in.

@Victor - well, it's EA, so I'm sure NHL 10 will be out eventually. I hope.
I'm looking forward to trying this game. I've enjoyed Madden and Tiger Woods so far, though to be honest I've never played any football games.
@TheMajorityOfYou - calm the eff down about the football/soccer thing. It really is /not/ that big of a deal, especially amongst a group of intelligent people that can tell merely by context what is being referred to. Sheesh.

Yes, what happened to EA's promise to release software on mac sametime it comes out for windows and consoles. That has been over a year and a half ago and like 4 to 6 titles that has happened with. I was hoping with the influx of developers to iphone more would make way to osx. Maybe when Apple TV finally gains games it will get more developers giving attention to osx. Tringo is only game I know that was every listed as an Apple TV game

I waited for this and heard nothing so I bought RS 2010 from Gameloft last night and even though I can get a refund within apple's unofficial 24 hour refund policy I'll keep it since this doesn't have multiplayer.
