Vodafone enters UK iPhone war, sales to begin in 2010
Vodafone has announced that they will start selling the iPhone 3G and 3GS in the UK and Ireland in early 2010. This comes just one day after Orange UK revealed its plans to offer the iPhone. Up to this point, O2 has had exclusive rights to the iPhone in the UK. No information on pricing is available at this time.[Via Engadget]

I'd like to see T-Mobile join in as they've always had the cheapest plans to match my needs. I'll happily go back to Orange as I onl went back to O2 because of the 3GS.
Very glad to be on PAYG and free to move as soon as I wish. ;-))
I realize it's probably not relevant at all, but Vodafone owns 45% of Verizon Wireless.
September 29 2009 at 12:22 PM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyCompletely irrelevant. Vodafone runs GSM networks, unlike Verizon Wireless.
September 29 2009 at 1:29 PM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyFor now, once the LTE rollout is done vodafone and verizon will run the same. By then their share might be sold. The rumor is verizon wants to buy out vodafone share as soon as vodafone will sell it

Vodafone is larger in terms of turnover.
China Mobile in terms of subscriber numbers.
Great news. But here in the states, we are still tied to at&t and therefore, I remain iPhone-less
September 29 2009 at 12:12 PM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyI am quite happy that the iPhone has been opened up as o2 were gouging us. Mind you lets see what they come up with, quite happy with o2 but would like to see a price reduction. My contract finishes Jan 2010.
September 29 2009 at 12:12 PM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyCan't wait to get off my O2 contract, pity I've still got 20 months to go. By then pricing and coverage might have improved!
September 29 2009 at 12:11 PM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyPRICE WAR!!!!!!
come next WWDC I'll be contract free and have options! :n)
no longer will I have to suffer under O2! hurray!!!
Jolly good news. Someone will argue with this for the sake of it, but Vodafone is easily the best network (in terms of actual coverage and network strength) in the UK overall.
September 29 2009 at 11:48 AM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyYeah, Ofcom would be the ones arguing about their coverage.
Vodafone are third behind 3 and Orange.
That's 3G coverage, which is woeful on every network - I'm talking about good old 2G coverage that actually lets you make or recieve a call the rest of time.
